The presenters will include prevention strategies and tips that parents and caregivers can implement at home. This presentation is hosted by?Wilmette District 39?and will be led by local substance use prevention professionals from?PEER Services, Inc., a community-based substance use prevention and treatment provider in Northern Cook County, and?KEY Coalition - Knowledge Empowers Youth, a youth substance use prevention coalition that serves the communities within New Trier Township, IL. Families are encouraged to join us in-person at the Mikaelian Education Center, but can also join virtually via Zoom. Since 1975, PEER Services has provided community-based substance abuse prevention and treatment services to the residents of Evanston, Northfield, New Trier, Maine and Niles Townships, and the north side of Chicago. Our mission is to reduce the harms of substance use, addiction and stigma by engaging youth and adults with innovative prevention programming and by supporting people on their path to recovery through holistic, evidence-based treatment. We provide affirming services to all in need, regardless of their income or insurance status. Our array of services has expanded over the years to respond to changing community needs. PEER Services is committed to improving the quality of life for individuals and families in local communities by working to eliminate substance misuse. We have found that this is best accomplished by educating the community and preventing substance misuse from developing, intervening when addiction does develop, and providing treatment for teens and adults struggling with substance use disorders. Our team utilizes the best practices in the field. We value professional development and ensure staff members remain up-to-date on the cutting-edge research and advances in the prevention and treatment of substance use disorders. A number of our staff have been recognized for their excellence in the field by statewide organizations, including the Illinois Association for Behavioral Health and the Illinois Association for Medication Assisted Addiction Treatment.

Congratulations!! Yesterday our very own Erin Tegge received an award from the Illinois Association of Behavioral Health for Prevention Leadership. Erin is the Prevention Director that fearlessly leads all of PEER's prevention efforts. She has been serving the Evanston, New Trier, Niles, Chicago, and Glenview/Northbrook communities at PEER for 10 years and has over 15 years of experience in social work and substance misuse prevention.
