With AI dominating healthcare headlines, new breakthroughs seem to emerge daily. ? One area that deserves more attention? AI-powered remote cardiac care. Millions of rural Americans struggle to access a cardiologist—and with the shortage only growing, AI-driven tools are making early detection and monitoring more accessible, affordable, and equitable. The right innovations can transform patient outcomes, but cutting through the noise is key. ? Healthcare IT Today turned to Peerbridge Health CEO Chris Darland for his insights on why AI-powered remote cardiac care is set to reshape patient outcomes and streamline healthcare operations. ? It was a blessing to represent Peerbridge Health at MedTech Innovator’s Westcoast Roadshow. I’m at the airport now truly inspired after meeting dozens of brilliant founders putting everything they have into making an impact in a super tricky field. As Paul Grand said at the kickoff, no one gets into Healthcare startups for a quick win, it has to be in your core that you want to have an impact to take on the journey. Thanks to the Nicole, Jerry and the whole MTI team for a great event. A big thank you as well to Ken, Rhiya and all of the judges that volunteered their time and experience to help companies like Peerbridge keep pushing forward!
Just wrapped an incredible MedTech Innovator pitch event in Los Angeles! With over 250 attendees, both startups and judges, it was a great day of innovation, feedback, and connections. Thanks to everyone who joined us and contributed to the conversations that will help shape the future of medtech. On to the next stop @College Park, MD! ?? #MTIRoadTour2025 #Innovation #Startup #MedTech #IamanInnovator

The U.S. is experiencing a significant physician shortage that could have a major impact on cardiology, according to a report from AMN Healthcare. ? The report highlights that 54% of general cardiologists are 55 or older, signaling an imminent wave of retirements. The overall physician shortage is projected to reach 80,000 by 2035, with cardiology facing a 17% deficit. ? As hospitals navigate these shortages, remote patient monitoring (RPM) solutions are already helping reduce hospital stays and improve outcomes for heart failure patients. By enabling early, virtual diagnosis in outpatient settings and capturing both normal and irregular beats with minimal disruption, RPM solutions are poised to lead the way in advancing cardiac care. ? https://lnkd.in/g7B4VQDY I #Cardiology #HeartDisease #HeartFailure #RemotePatientMonitoring #ChronicDisease #PhysicianShortage Cardiovascular Business

More than 700,000 Americans died from heart disease in 2022, accounting for about a fifth of all deaths. ? While death rates have declined considerably since 1950, recent trends show an increase in cardiovascular disease deaths. That’s attributed in part to the increased prevalence of risk factors such as high blood pressure and obesity, the American Heart Association says. People of color, particularly Black Americans, face a higher risk of developing heart disease. ? There are steps you can take to help lower your risk of heart disease, but it can be costly and time-consuming—luxuries many Americans can’t afford. As we continue raising awareness of heart disease during American Heart Month, here are five tips from USA TODAY: https://lnkd.in/eEisivc8 I #AmericanHeartMonth #HeartDisease #ChronicDisease #Cardiology

New research reveals that older adults use a range of digital health tools, including patient portals and telehealth platforms, but demographic factors influence their utilization. ? As digital health tools are increasingly deployed to support various healthcare industry goals, including value-based care, stakeholders must be mindful of digital determinants of health that could hinder the adoption and use of these technologies. Published in JAMA Network Open, the research letter assesses the utilization of digital health technologies among older adults and identifies the factors that influence their use. ? https://lnkd.in/gZXn5a_c I #DigitalHealth #HealthEquity #RemotePatientMonitoring #ValueBasedCare

February is American Heart Month, a time to encourage Americans to adopt healthier lifestyles to help prevent heart disease. ? Here are a few key facts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: ? ?? Heart disease is widespread. It is the leading cause of death for men, women, and most racial and ethnic groups in the U.S. In 2022, it accounted for 1 in every 5 deaths. ?? High blood pressure is a major risk factor. Nearly half of U.S. adults have high blood pressure, yet only 1 in 4 has it under control. ?? Heart disease is costly. Between 2019 and 2020, healthcare services, medications, and lost productivity due to heart disease totaled $252.2 billion. ? At Peerbridge Health, we’re dedicated to transforming heart health by bringing hospital-grade diagnostics into the home. Our technology enables earlier intervention and reduces hospital visits—not just improving care, but saving lives. ? As an industry, we talk a lot about improving health equity and healthcare access – but what can we actually do to achieve it? What strategies can be implemented to ensure equitable access to healthcare services for marginalized and vulnerable populations? ? Healthcare IT Today asked industry experts, including Peerbridge CEO Chris Darland, to share where they are seeing partnerships with community organizations work effectively together to improve health equity and access. ? “Telehealth and AI-enabled remote monitoring devices are bringing care into the homes of people who struggle to access clinical services. These can include rural Americans who may live 100 miles away from a hospital, clinic, or even primary care provider, as well as patients with social determinants of health barriers such as lack of transportation. Providers can help reduce health disparities by offering less expensive remote monitoring solutions to bridge the care gap in 2025 and beyond.” ?
