On Tuesday, Oct 1, the 4 o'clock Garden Club donated a tulip poplar to Pee Dee Hearing Center. JD Meggs of American Landscaping donated the planting of the tree. The tulip poplar was chosen as a step toward supporting a rebound of pollinators in our downtown neighborhood. Tulip poplars are native to South Carolina and are a favorite nesting site for birds, and the flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds.? Garden club members assisting with the planting were; Chris Williams, Darby Holley, Willa Burdette, Joy Burris, Cheryl Carr, Marion Reifsnider, and Marianne Hoylen. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen!

Last Thursday volunteers from Florence Darlington Technical College spent their morning freshening up the offices at Pee Dee Hearing Center! They did a fantastic job and we are very grateful! Thank you, FDTC!

Our practice is seeing a strong correlation between screen time for young children and autism-like symptoms. Please read below for more information on the growing evidence for the dangers of screens of any kind for children. "Virtual autism is a condition believed to occur when young children, particularly those under the age of three, are exposed to excessive screen time, which can lead to symptoms similar to those seen in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) [1]. These symptoms, often referred to as "virtual autism symptoms," can include language delay, short attention span, hyperactivity, and difficulty interacting with others. In some cases, excessive screen exposure can also lead to mental health issues such as screen withdrawal, sleep problems, and even depression." https://lnkd.in/e2sj274j

Tropical Storm Debby is expected to impact the Florence and Pee Dee area this week. Pee Dee Hearing Center will remain open as weather conditions permit. We will be making the decision about whether to remain open on a daily basis based on the most recent weather forecast. Although we will make every effort to contact patients whose appointments may have to rescheduled, we recommend that, if you have a scheduled appointment on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, you call our office ahead of time to confirm at 843-662-7802.
