Just like a well-tuned race car, AI-driven medical advancements can accelerate access to life-saving care, ensuring no patient is left behind. “We’re talking about working in low-middle-income countries, and it's correctly been pointed out by many people that there are a lot of rural areas in the United States and Canada that don't have access to primary care or subspecialty care. You know, this concept that you bring up is very important—it's not just charity abroad. It's making sure that the resources that we have in the United States and Canada are available to all the citizens here.” ?? ? When Purpose Finds You ?? Pediatric Moonshot Monday: It Always Takes One with Annamarie Saarinen and Dr. Timothy Chou I truly believe that when we listen closely, the most difficult moments in life guide us toward our greatest purpose. "You have to be thick-skinned, listen more than you speak, and not be afraid to push forward—even when the system says no." Working in pediatric healthcare—whether in the hospital, teaching, or researching solutions—I constantly think about HOW we can do better for children. That’s why AnneMarie Saarinen’s story struck a deep chord with me and was so inspiring. When her daughter, Eve was born with a critical congenital heart defect, she didn’t just accept the system as it was—she changed it. She didn’t wait for permission—she literally made it happen. Because of her work: ?? 4 million newborns a year are now screened for heart defects. ?? She helped make pulse oximetry screening a national standard in the U.S-WOW. ?? She founded Bloom Standard, creating an AI-driven, automated ultrasound solution for low-resource settings—because every tiny human deserves access to life-saving technology. I think about these questions daily: ?? How many preventable conditions go undetected simply because of lack of access? ?? How many lives could we change if we trusted our calling and took action—no matter how small? ??
