A nonprofit committed to funding breakthrough research and accelerating new cures for pediatric cancers
关于我们
Since 1982, the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation has been chasing one ambitious goal: to make it possible for all children facing childhood cancer to beat their disease and realize their full potential. We will achieve this by powering cures where none exists and giving rise to less toxic regimens that have fewer side effects. While the challenge is huge, we are both optimistic and determined. We have raised and invested more than $57 million in pediatric cancer research that has contributed to groundbreaking advances in treatment — and we are just getting started. In 2022, we turned 40 years young, and we plan to use our insights, experience, and leadership to uncover promising new directions and drive momentum in pediatric cancer research. We know that meaningful progress relies on investing in promising research that advances the learning cycle and yields new insights. We know, too, that identifying breakthroughs means championing and nurturing the researchers who are moving science forward every day. By working together — with the research community, our partners and kind-hearted supporters — we will give flight to the breakthroughs that will help transform pediatric cancer care. Please consider how you or your organization can join us in the fight to save a child's life. Make an investment today through the gift of sponsorship, employee giving, volunteering, donor-advised gifts, or a tax-deductible donation - all of these ways of giving will go directly to improve the care, quality of life, and survival rates of children with cancer.

With heartfelt gratitude, we thank our community for standing with us to support researchers working tirelessly to make a life-saving difference for children and families facing pediatric cancer. ?? But our efforts don't and can't stop here. With your help, we’re aiming to raise $100,000 by December 31, 2024, funding groundbreaking treatments, advancing equitable care, and giving every child the chance to thrive beyond cancer. Here’s how to join the movement now that you’ve been tagged by the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation: ??? Support: Make a donation to pediatric cancer research - any amount makes you a hero in the eyes of a child fighting cancer. ??? Tag 3 people: Pick three friends, family members, or colleagues to keep the game going. The more, the merrier! Transform them into heroes too by inviting them to take part. ?? Spread the word: Share this campaign on social media or by email, and tag at least 3 others to make a donation and pass it on. Despite the progress being made daily in childhood cancer research, there's one specific challenge that scientists have yet to overcome: cancer drug resistance. In our newest Profectus article (link below) we explore what cancer drug resistance is and the novel questions being pursued by Dr. Kyle MacQuarrie, a physician-scientist at the Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, whose research the Foundation helps fund. Research is the key to finding a cure for pediatric cancer so that no child is lost to this horrible disease. I am honored to represent Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation in this mission???? #researchpowerscures #pediatriccancer #childhoodcancer https://lnkd.in/gEJ2uHEH

Pediatric cancer research has made remarkable strides over the past few decades, largely thanks to the incredible support from donors of the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF). While being a parent or guardian of a child diagnosed with cancer is undoubtedly challenging, the advancements in research mean that today’s pediatric cancer patients have access to more treatment options than ever before. However, one significant hurdle remains: cancer drug resistance. This molecular change within cancer cells can diminish the effectiveness of even the most promising therapies, creating three main types of resistance: primary, adaptive, and acquired. Dr. Kyle MacQuarrie from the Stanley Manne Children's Research Institute is at the forefront of investigating this critical issue. He aims to uncover the root causes of cancer resistance, going beyond just the visible changes in resistant cancer cells. His approach delves into the cellular organization that contributes to drug resistance, especially in rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS), a common and aggressive childhood cancer. His latest study, funded by PCRF, focuses on understanding the intricate processes that lead to chemotherapy resistance, providing a fresh perspective on an ongoing challenge in pediatric oncology. By exploring these cellular dynamics, Dr. MacQuarrie hopes to identify potential solutions that could improve treatment outcomes for countless children. To read more about his work and the journey to overcoming cancer drug resistance shared by researchers globally, visit our Profectus blog at ??: https://lnkd.in/gtv6fzN8 #PCRFKids #CancerResearch #DrugResistance #PediatricOncology #ChildhoodCancer #ResearchInnovation
