Ensuring that work procedures are carried out safely starts with leadership. The challenge for leaders is truly understanding the daily tasks of their employees. Without years of hands-on experience in these roles, how can we confidently identify the safest ways to perform them? It all begins with asking the right questions. As a safety person, what key questions should be asked to identify hazardous job steps in unfamiliar tasks?

Error Precursors: Time + Pressure For safety professionals, deadlines can be one of our biggest challenges. While keeping teams productive and on task is important, too much pressure can lead to rushing—and that’s when mistakes happen. When workers feel the clock ticking down, they’re more likely to skip steps, take shortcuts, or overlook critical safety measures. That’s why it’s essential to create a balance: ? Reinforce that safety comes first, even under tight deadlines. ? Encourage open communication when time pressure is creating risk. ? Help teams plan ahead to avoid last-minute scrambling. A job done safely is a job done right. No deadline is worth an injury.

We had a great time speaking with the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) Charleston Chapter this afternoon! David and Caleb dove into how AI can make safety more effective and engaging in many different ways. The conversations that followed were insightful, and it was awesome connecting with people who are just as passionate about keeping workers safe. Thanks to everyone who came out and to the ASSP Charleston Chapter for having us. We’re looking forward to more great conversations and finding new ways to use AI in safety!

As we wrap up the week, let’s talk about a topic that’s always relevant in the world of safety—changing a poor safety culture. It’s one of the biggest challenges safety professionals face, and there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. In your experience, what’s the most effective way to create lasting change? Is it strong leadership accountability, meaningful incentives and recognition, comprehensive training programs, or consistent enforcement of rules? Cast your vote and share your thoughts. We’d love to hear how you’ve successfully improved safety culture in your workplace.

Safety isn’t a one-time meeting—it’s a daily commitment. An active safety culture means consistently reinforcing expectations, not just checking a compliance box. When safety is talked about, demonstrated, and prioritized every day, it becomes second nature. A strong safety culture doesn’t just protect workers—it boosts morale, productivity, and trust. Ask yourself this question: Have I shown my employees today that safety is a top priority?

When someone gets hurt on the job, is it the person's fault or the organization? This question stirs up debate—some say workers should take full responsibility for their actions, while others argue that companies must create an environment where accidents are nearly impossible. Comment your opinion! With Valentine’s Day around the corner, we’re focusing on Heart & Minds Leadership—because real safety isn’t just about rules, it’s about caring for your people. In honor of that, here's a short clip from our Heart’s & Minds Leadership Training, showing how strong leadership and a culture of care can prevent accidents before they happen.

Prioritizing Heart Health in the Workplace – American Heart Month February is American Heart Month, a critical time to recognize the impact of heart disease—the leading cause of death in the United States. At Peak Safety Performance, we are committed to workplace safety, and that includes raising awareness about cardiovascular health. Did You Know? ? Heart disease is the #1 cause of death in the U.S. ? Over 600,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of hospitals each year. ? Workers in high-risk industries like construction and manufacturing face greater risks due to physical demands, high stress levels, and long work hours. Ensuring employees are prepared to respond to medical emergencies is just as important as preventing physical injuries on the job. A proactive approach to heart health can save lives. Key Steps to Promote Heart Health in the Workplace: ? CPR & AED Training – Equip employees with lifesaving skills to respond to cardiac emergencies. ? Health Screenings & Wellness Programs – Encourage regular check-ups and promote heart-healthy habits. ? Emergency Preparedness – Ensure job sites have clear protocols for rapid response to medical incidents. ? Workplace Environment – Foster a culture that prioritizes hydration, stress management, and adequate rest. By integrating heart health into workplace safety initiatives, companies can protect their employees while fostering a healthier, more productive workforce. This American Heart Month, let’s commit to a proactive approach to cardiac safety—because protecting lives extends beyond physical hazards. #AmericanHeartMonth
