When kids can't read, the risk of negative outcomes—including involvement in the justice system—grows. At PEAK Literacy, we believe in early intervention, access to high-quality reading interventions, and community support to help all children succeed. The Annie E. Casey Foundation has curated a powerful collection of resources for youth justice professionals, emphasizing the importance of prevention, intervention, and support. Check it out!

When one of our volunteer tutors, Conner, texted to say he was writing a group paper for his Education Industry class on "How school districts can adopt personalized learning to close educational gaps" and asked if I had any thoughts, my response was an enthusiastic YES! A few moments later, I was on Zoom with a group of passionate Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management students, diving into the ways personalized learning can be achieved through collaborative efforts, evidence-based strategies, and the right resources. It's inspiring to see future leaders tackling these critical issues. Thoughtful questions lead to real change—and we’re always ready to be part of that conversation. #EducationMatters #PersonalizedLearning #ClosingTheGap #FutureLeaders #PEAKLiteracy

Celebrating a milestone with our Executive Director, Leah Galione!

    查看Leah Galione的档案

Founder & Executive Director @ PEAK Literacy | Social Entrepreneur | Literacy and Equity Advocate| Community Organizer

Five years ago today, I had my first "successful" day of launching a free tutoring program with 15 students. Today, we’re proud to serve 175 students with daily reading lessons, representing an increase of over 1,000%. This growth reflects the dedication of our 100+ volunteers, the strength of our community and business partnerships, and the growing demand for literacy support. What I’m most proud of isn’t just the progress our students make—it’s the shift in mindset across our community. It’s watching people realize ‘I can help. I can do something tangible. I can show up and be part of something bigger than myself." So, reach out and I'll treat you to lunch and tell you how you can come with me and be a part of where we are headed in the next five years.

Thank you to Darla Eberst Zambelli with Princess Portable Toilets for sponsoring our staff and interns to attend the “Stronger Together” Chamber event. The evening truly lived up to its title, “Night of Inspiration.” Nathan Whitaker was vulnerable, engaging, and shared a great mix of humor and wisdom that left us motivated and uplifted.
