Every month we share a historic and inspiring speech. This March, we are sharing a speech given by the first Black congresswoman to the United States, Shirley Chisholm. Her understanding of how to use consonants as a tool to shape what the listener hears and understands as important is masterful. https://lnkd.in/ghcUxiQP #WomensHistoryMonth #Leadership #WomensVoices #WomenInLeadership

Find A Rich Sound Without Changing Who You Are This week, you’ll explore resonance—adjusting the depth and richness of your voice without altering your pitch frequency. Challenge: Choose a phrase like “Hi, my name is [your name].” Practice saying it while shifting your resonance: Bring the sound forward, imagining it resonating in the front of your mouth. Then say the sentence again but feel the sound living farther back in your mouth and/or throat. Notice how your voice changes with these subtle adjustments. What did you like? What didn't you like? See how far and to the extreme you can go. ?? Goal: Discover a resonant tone that feels powerful, authentic, and comfortable for your body. We believe that resonance, not pitch, communicates leadership and confidence. #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenInLeadership #ProfessionalDevelopment #WomensVoices

Did you know your voice can shape how your audience feels? The emotions you telegraph through your voice influence how your message is received—this is what we often call “tone of voice.” Think about a phone call: you can’t see the other person, but you can instantly sense their mood through their tone. Are they calm, enthusiastic, or upset? That’s because tone carries emotional signals that shape perception. Want to learn more about how to control how you telegraph emotions? We are going to look more thoroughly into this for the month of April. Follow us so you don't miss any of our exercises and techniques!

This month we are celebrating Women's History Month and for voices we like, we want to share a woman whose voice is not only exciting to listen to, but a woman who uses her voice to uplift women. Reshma Saujani is such a relatable speaker. The way she speaks makes you feel like you are just chit-chatting with a girlfriend. Why? Well, we love her use of aspiration as a way to showcase particularly important words and her command over consonants. Listen to the way she says the word "obsessed" during the introduction of her guest. It's visceral! https://lnkd.in/eW_eG6DS #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenInLeadership #Womensvoices #SpeakWithConfidence #PeacockVoices

Women's voices are powerful. So why are they judged so harshly? A study found that when the same voice was altered to sound more feminine, it was rated as 29% less charismatic, 31% less likable, and 13% less confident. Women are constantly told to either sound more like men or embrace ineffective speech habits. But what if there’s a better way? Your voice is not a flaw to be fixed—it’s a tool that you can learn to control. Watch the full video on our YouTube channel, where we dive into vocal exercises that help you embrace and refine your authentic voice. #WomensHistoryMonth #ExecutivePresence #Leadership #ProfessionalDevelopment #WomensVoices

Women’s voices have inherent strengths, such as inflection, melodic lines, and flexibility. This week, we’ll celebrate and observe where those strengths naturally occur. Challenge: Listen for the following in your speech: ?? Inflection and melodic lines: Variations in pitch that make your speech engaging. ?? Flexibility: Ability to adjust tone and energy based on the situation. Identify situations where these strengths shine. For example: ?? Are you more melodic when comforting a friend? ?? Do you use flexibility to build rapport in meetings? Note where these characteristics are missing or less present. Do you find your speech pattern becomes more monotone when you are surrounded by other monotone voices? Do you find you lose your flexibility or inflection when you are nervous? Your voice is a powerful tool. Which of these positive attributes feel authentic to you? Where do you want to emphasize them more? #ExecutivePresence #WomensHistoryMonth #Leadership #ProfessionalDevelopment #WomensVoices

Vocal Health Tip for Women: Supporting Your Voice Through Hormonal Changes Hormonal changes affect your body—and that includes your voice. Whether it’s the natural fluctuations of your monthly cycle or the longer-term shifts that come with menopause, your hormones play a key role in how your vocal cords function. During certain phases of your menstrual cycle, you might experience: ?? A loss of vocal clarity or range. ?? Increased vocal fatigue. ?? Dryness or a “heavier” feeling in your voice. Support Your Voice: ?? Hydrate consistently. Warm water and soothing teas can be especially helpful. ?? Use gentle vocal warm-ups like humming to maintain flexibility. ?? Rest your voice if you feel strain. It’s okay to give yourself a break. As women age, menopause can bring new challenges, such as: ?? A deeper, raspier voice due to thinning vocal cords. ?? Less vocal stamina or control. ?? Increased dryness caused by hormonal shifts. Adapt and Care: ?? Prioritize vocal hydration, including using a humidifier if the air is dry. ?? Incorporate exercises to strengthen your vocal cords and maintain range. ?? Work with a voice coach or speech therapist to navigate changes with confidence. Your voice evolves over time, just like the rest of your body. By staying attuned to these shifts and supporting your vocal health, you can maintain a strong, clear, and authentic voice at every stage of life!

We’ve all been there—suddenly realizing we’re using our “customer service” voice, that overly polished tone we slip into without thinking. While it can be useful in certain situations, staying in that voice too long can feel draining and inauthentic. Here’s the good news: building vocal flexibility helps you break free from this default mode without needing a full reset. In fact, with practice, you can prevent it altogether! Flexibility allows you to shift your tone in the moment, moving back to a voice that feels authentic. Practice switching between tones and styles in low-pressure settings to build this skill. The more you work on it, the easier it becomes to stay grounded in your authentic voice—no reset needed. Your voice doesn’t have to feel stuck. With flexibility, you can lead conversations with confidence and authenticity. #ExecutivePresence #WomensHistoryMonth #Leadership #ProfessionalDevelopment #WomensVoices
