This week, the new RISE (Reaching Interdependence, Skills, and Employment) cohort took its first steps at Peacehaven. At first, they were just names on a roster. A little nervous, a little unsure. But then, something happened. They got their hands in the dirt, explored the greenhouse, and saw how a tiny seed—given the right care—could grow into something strong, something useful, something beautiful. They learned that our garden, like?#commUNITY, thrives on patience and intention. They practiced interview questions, discovering that confidence isn’t about having all the right answers—it’s about believing that you belong in the conversation. By the end of the week, they weren’t just a group; they were teammates. They were encouragers. They were part of something bigger than themselves. And that’s the heart of RISE—building not just skills, but connection. Because?#interdependence?isn’t about doing it alone. It’s about knowing you don’t have to. Not long ago, we set out with a goal: $12.5 million to build something the world desperately needs—a place where everyone can find belonging. A place where difference isn’t something to be solved but something to be celebrated. Then, life happened. More families reached out, more voices asked to be heard. Costs rose. The need grew. And instead of scaling back, we did what this community always does. We said yes. Now, less than a year later, what started as a dream has become a movement. And we are so, so close to reality. That’s because of you. Because of a Capital Campaign Leadership Team that refused to settle. Because of donors who gave not just their money, but their belief. Because of every single person who looked at this vision and said, "I want to be part of that." Peacehaven is growing. And not just in size—but in heart, in reach, in the number of people who will find belonging here. We have some very exciting things to share in the coming days and weeks... all leading up to putting shovels in the ground in the spring as the road ahead is being paved, literally! Years from now, when someone asks how Peacehaven grew into something so extraordinary, we’ll remember these 36 hours. We packed up and stepped away—not because we needed a break, but because we owed it to this place, to the people who believe in it, and to those who will one day call it home. We wrestled with big questions, chased even bigger dreams, and reminded ourselves why this work matters. Because Peacehaven isn’t "just a farm." It’s a place where people of all abilities find belonging, purpose, and each other. A #commUNITY where everyone has a purpose, a belonging, and no one stands alone. We worked hard. We laughed hard. We worked harder. We debated and fine-tuned. We also ate more than we should have. And when it was all said and done, we came back more committed than ever.
