Tenants and homebuyers can’t wait for private equity firms to put human decency ahead of these firms’ bottom lines. We applaud state-level policymakers across the country for taking decisive action to rein in private equity landlords in the interest of leveling the playing field for millions of working class Americans.

关于我们
The private equity industry is massive, hugely influential, and playing a role in more and more aspects of life in the US and around the world. The industry manages nearly $7.5 trillion in assets and owns companies that employ more than 11 million American workers, plus millions more around the world. The industry touches a growing number of stakeholders, from workers and their unions, to communities and community groups, to those concerned about the environment. Private Equity Stakeholder Project is a non-profit organization whose mission is to identify, engage, and connect stakeholders affected by private equity with the goal of engaging investors and empowering communities, working families, and others impacted by private equity investments.

Yep, this one has a lot of pieces, and private equity is involved in almost all of them. https://lnkd.in/gXXDJKT4

“It’s even hard for institutional investors, pension funds, endowments, depending on their capital contribution, it’s hard for them to even get information about some of the books and records,” said Chris Noble, policy director at the Private Equity Stakeholder Project, a nonprofit watchdog organization. “If you want to take advantage of retirement money, you should be subject to the same regulations that public companies are.”
