Professional Diversified Flooring, Inc. had the opportunity to procure and execute the flooring finish materials and installation at Olukai’s storefront at the Irvine Spectrum. The front of house included a couple of unique stone flooring finishes. With lava rock volcanic stone as a border and brushed limestone tile as a decorative inlay accented with solid brass metal trim, this beautiful design was able to achieve an island inspired style and craftsmanship. The back of house included carpet tiles. Some challenges that turned into successes that only our team can make look effortless included: Due to the varying thickness of the tile heights, the floor level needed to be addressed. Our crew produced a leveling plan to achieve a flush transition. In partnership with the design team, PDF meticulously accounted for the existing conditions and design intent to execute a pattern layout before the installation.?Also, the lava rock stone tiles are a very sensitive and porous product that requires delicate handling and installation, and pre and post sealing to protect the material.
