We tagged along with a pastor in Baltimore offering Ashes To-Go today – braving the rain and cold to bring grace to whomever God brings to her. Rev. Jennifer DiFrancesco has been offering Ashes to-go on Ash Wednesday at a bus stop in North Baltimore for several years. A nearby café hosts the weekly Wednesday morning #WakeUpWordUp breakfast led by members of The Slate Project, a new worshiping community jointly supported by the PC(USA), ELCA and Episcopal Church. In addition to her role with Slate, DiFrancesco serves as the interim pastor at Havenwood Presbyterian Church in Timonium, Maryland. As a community pastor to those living in North Baltimore, and to many more via virtual services, The Slate Project meets people’s needs “through prayer, conversation, and intentional community-building that is not confined by city, state, or even country.” We love Jennifer’s commitment to community and this beautiful act of faith and kindness on a dreary day.
