In 2020, Hurricane Laura made landfall in Southwest Louisiana, leaving devastation in its wake. McNeese State University Health and Human Performance Center was hit with the category 4 storm’s wind gusts, which sustained winds of 160 mph, but this building had been designed to sustain 140 mph winds. Despite damage endured on this building, the precast concrete panels performed perfectly. Produced by GATE Precast in Jacksonville, Florida, this project is known for its resiliency and durability, proving that precast concrete is built to withstand even nature’s most dangerous storms.
