PCI has been selected to receive a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) - application for “Reducing Embodied Greenhouse Gas Emissions for Construction Materials and Products (EPA-R-OCSPP-OPPT-FY2023-001). To assist with the grant management, PCI is issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) to partner with a firm or consultant to provide grant management services for a five-year federal grant. PCI will act as the awardee/recipient with two subawardees/subrecipients. PCI will be responsible for managing the subgrantee contracts for the duration of the grant cycle. In anticipation of receiving the award, this RFP will provide grant management services for the period of the grant. In conjunction with The Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute's 70th anniversary an annual award program called "The Precast Concrete Longevity Award" has been launched. This recognizes precast projects that have demonstrated exceptional craftsmanship, innovation, and a commitment to creating structures that embody longevity. Out of dozens of submissions / considered projects, only a very select group of 10 total projects were selected (in this inaugural first class of award winners and honorable mention recipients) to receive recognition in celebrating the decades of innovation, durability, and sustainability in the precast concrete industry. Enterprise Precast Concrete is pleased to announce that the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts was selected in the honorable mention category for projects that were completed 10 to 25 years ago. The next precast concrete benefit highlight is life quality. Using precast concrete improves indoor environmental quality, does not require chemical preservatives, is energy efficient, and more. Precast concrete walls also help reduce off-gassing. Governors Island Ventilation Building in New York is a great example of life quality. This building is one of four structures that contain dozens of giant fans responsible for pulling vehicle emissions out and can completely replace the tunnel's air every ninety seconds.
