  • It was a pleasure to host this wonderful group of Princeton University alumni in India. Look forward to having more of you visit us.

The inaugural Princeton "Star Trek" to India was designed and led by Shiv Siddhant Kaul *03, President of Princeton Club of India and Karthick Ramakrishnan *02, former President of the APGA - Association of Princeton Graduate Alumni. Inderjeet Singh *23 helped from behind the scenes to make sure the trip was a success and give the group VIP treatment in Rajasthan. Our first group of Princeton Star travelers was a diverse and lively bunch! Not only did we get to know wonderful parts of India, including its history, culture, and people—we also got to spend a lot of time getting to know each other in a deep way, including over three meals every day and in our various van rides, walking tours, and safaris.?These tigers even saw some tigers!!

Really enjoyed hosting Professor Anu Ramaswami and the Princeton Startup Immersion Program (PSIP) students in Bangalore last week! We held the evening reception at the Museum of Art and Photography (MAP), featuring a wonderful keynote by Prof. Ramaswami, Director of the Chadha Center For Global India (CGI) at Princeton University. She spoke about the high impact work of the CGI across its main research themes: digital public infrastructure; climate change & decarbonisation; literature, arts, and social policy. It was also energising to hear from the 10 Princeton students interning via PSIP this summer, about their experiences working at companies such as axio, Rapido, IndiQube, sentra.world and WestBridge Capital. PSIP is a terrific program at Princeton University that places students in high growth companies globally, across New York, Shanghai, Tel Aviv, and now Bengaluru. When I was at Princeton ('06), such a program did not exist, and it's wonderful to see new centers such as the CGI, endowed by Sumir Chadha of WestBridge Capital (Princeton ‘93), and the Keller Center making it possible for young undergrads at Princeton today to gain important global and startup experience. It was great to see so many Princeton University alumni, students, family, faculty, and staff at PCI’s Annual Reception event last Friday! It was another great moment for PCI to be sending off Indian students to Princeton for Fall 2024. It was also a great opportunity to network with each other and to highlight the contributions of the Princeton community to the University and beyond. In case you missed the Reception, here’s a quick recap! On Friday at The Oberoi, we hosted: ????The Princeton Global India Summer Research Symposium, co-sponsored with CGI (Chadha Centre for Global India), kicked off with CGI Director Prof Anu Ramaswami sharing the vision and activities undertaken by CGI in India. ????PSIP students shared their experiences during their internship period this summer and the opportunities they saw in the Indian market. ????Akash Kapur (Author and Research Fellow) and Sashank Rishyasringa (co-founder of axio) sparked a stimulating conversation on Digital Public Infrastructure in India and how it has spurred growth in startups. It was thought-provoking and deeply insightful! ????Vinay Sitapati (Associate Dean and Professor of Law and Politics, Shiv Nadar University) engaged with us on his upcoming book “India Rules and the Indian Diaspora.” We hope to see his book on the racks soon! ????Fauzia Farooqi, Lecturer in South Asian Studies at Princeton University, presented her fascinating work on creating digital archives of traditions in India. ????Last but not least, Suman K. Bery (VC, Niti Aayog) graced the occasion with his presence and engaged with us on everything policy and the future of India. As always, it was a beautiful day spent well in the company of fellow Tigers, reminding us of the best place of all: good old Nassau! Thank you for coming out and sharing your stories of grit, creativity, endurance, challenge, and the quest to make an indelible difference in your own unique ways! Lastly, we wish the very best to the Class of 2028! We hope our efforts to introduce you to the "locomotive" left you feeling embraced by our Princeton family. As you embark on your journey to Princeton, know that PCI is roaring with pride because of you! Welcome aboard, Tigers! In today's tech-driven era, the liberal arts often fall to the wayside. STEM majors take the spotlight in almost all aspects of life, from higher salaries to higher social capital. But technological progress - predominantly the advent of artificial intelligence - raises a list of moral and ethical dilemmas that can only be resolved through understanding human experiences, a mainstay of humanities education. Technologies do not exist in isolation; today more than ever, it is apparent that issues of consequence can be solved only with the intersection of technology and the humanities. Discover how the intersection of technology and the humanities shapes our world with Rishi Jaitly, Senior Advisor at OpenAI, and Dr. Robert Newman,?President of the National Humanities Center, in a conversation moderated by Supriya Nair. Join us for "Gentle Machines: The Case for the Humanities in an AI World"?at?7:30 PM?on the?11th of April?at Club Jolie's, Mumbai.?Register with the link below. Our experience partner for this event is Club Jolie's and our outreach partner for this event is Princeton Club of India. https://lnkd.in/dWqvJa47
