Meet Julia McGovern, owner of Poppyseed Market! ?www.poppyseedmkt.com Located in Raleigh, NC, Julia opened her business in 2006 after finishing culinary school and wanting to have a place where people could come to for really good food. “Fresh and simple but memorable and satisfying. Memorable, evoking that feeling of bringing you right back to where you were when you first tasted it. Nostalgia so to speak. 18 years later I think we have it down. People come in now and say how they grew up on our chicken salad or that it makes them happy to have one of our grilled pimento cheese sandwiches because it reminds them of their grandmother’s recipe. Same for all our salads we sell in our deli cases. Being born and bred in the south there’s also that thing of southern hospitality which is a dying form of art unfortunately, but we still have it here! We will yes ma’am and no sir you to death.
