John Michael Pierce. I am honored and humbled to be joining the Board of the John Michael Pierce Foundation. In learning about the foundation and their impactful fundraising efforts last year, I was struck by how closely their mission aligns with both Lucid Diagnostics and my personal commitment to early diagnosis. John Michael Pierce was only 24 years old when he was diagnosed with stage 4 Esophageal Cancer. To use the word tragic doesn't do it justice. The rise in esophageal adenocarcinoma over the past 5 decades, and the recent data on young onset esophageal adenocarcinoma diagnosis, requires immediate intervention, education, and awareness of screening modalities such as EsoGuard. This disease state requires more than just cancer detection. Even at stage 1, mortality is grim. Through risk factor education, continued clinical research, and highly sensitive diagnostics that identify early-stage disease, including Short Segment Barretts Esophagus (SSBE), we have a fighting chance to stop the rise of esophageal adenocarcinoma. I want to thank Patti and Jeff Pierce and Michelle Jenkins for their support and trust that I'll bring value to their organization.
