Thank you Zyneria Byrd and Spectrum News for covering our film festival at the Greensboro History Museum. The variety of films and perspectives shared by each of our filmmakers was thought-provoking, entertaining and inspiring. Let’s do more of this. #aapiheritagemonth #aapistories #aapifilmmakers #pavenc https://lnkd.in/eZwhGxZk

It was a great honor to represent PAVE NC in Raleigh yesterday and to mingle with our AANHPI brothers and sisters from across the state. #ncaanhpi #aanhpimonth #pavenc #aanhpiheritage #aanhpipride
In a stately brick house that has sheltered a long line of white male lawmakers, there echoed a warm greeting in Tagalog from the state’s first Filipina N.C. House Representative @Maria Cervania. The entryway of the Governor’s Mansion in Raleigh was filled yesterday with entrepreneurs, educators, immigrant/refugee coordinators and civic leaders from the Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islanders communities — some of whom were dressed in colorful saris, pressed kimonos and handwoven, embroidered dresses. The golden headdresses of Cambodian dancers made a shining statement of cultural pride and the beauty of continuing traditions from one generation to the next. What a rainbow of AANHPI representation that truly illustrated that we are not a monolith. It was a great day to be Asian American in North Carolina. #ncaanhpi #aapiheritage #pavenc #aanhpirepresentation #proudtobeaanhpi #ncaanhpi #roycooper #aanhpimonth

We were extremely honored to be a part of Murphey Traditional Academy’s first AAPI celebration on May 1. Partnering with IMPACT Asian Americans of NC, we were asked to talk about what AAPI month means to us. That’s a lot to try to explain to a typical elementary school-aged child. For those of us who may have grown up in communities where we were the only one like us, for those of us who may have been made fun of for how we look or what we eat — it’s not easy explaining what this month means to us. But seeing the AAPI students at Murphey being celebrated by their peers and their excited faces and pride in being able to talk about their culture — that’s what makes AAPI Month special. #aapi #aapimonth #guilfordcountyschools #pavenc #iaanc

It’s been awhile since we’ve created fresh content, hosted an event or posted any updates. We’re pivoting this year and making some changes to accommodate the shifting nature of our lives. But our focus and our mission to share AAPI stories will continue, with altered frequency. And with that — and ahead of AAPI month, we’re announcing our first event this year. We’re excited to partner with the Greensboro History Museum to host an AAPI Film Fest featuring six local AAPI filmmakers. Details below and more to come… What: AAPI Film Fest, featuring six local AAPI filmmakers, with panel discussion to follow. When: Noon-2 p.m., Saturday, April 27 Where: Greensboro History Museum, 130 Summit Ave., Greensboro Howard Affandi was born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia. His portfolio includes video projects for commercial clients, nonprofit organizations and artists. Paul's passion projects include his travels across the world. Sachi Dely is an artist, filmmaker and actor based in Greensboro, North Carolina. Sachi came to the United States as a refugee from Vietnam in 2002. Her childhood experience and Montagnard Bunong culture are the foundation of her work. Stefan Kei DiMuzio was born and raised in Tokyo, and traveled to N.C. every summer break with his family. He eventually moved to Greensboro to study film, which led to a career in project management, music, and photography. Richie Iden is an editor and filmmaker currently attending UNCSA.
