On Tuesday, some of the Board of Commissioners took a tour of our Jail led by Major David Pace and Captain Keith Thomas. They spent time discussing the facility, which still feels new to us even though we moved in five years ago, along with some of the challenges and successes we've experienced in that time. We always appreciate their time and continued support here at the Sheriff’s Office. 关于我们
The primary purpose of the Sheriff’s Office is to maintain social order within prescribed ethical and constitutional limits, while providing professional law enforcement services to all. To attain this, the Department enforces the law in a fair and impartial manner, recognizing both the statutory and judicial limitations of Sheriffs’ authority and the constitutional rights of all persons. The Sheriff’s Office recognizes that no law enforcement agency can operate at its maximum potential without supportive input from the citizens it serves. The Sheriff’s Office actively solicits and encourages the cooperation of all citizens to decrease the opportunities for crime and to facilitate the maximum use of resources.

Earlier this morning, students from the Exceptional Students Educational Program (ESEP) at South Paulding High School, along with a few of their siblings, challenged our School Resource Officers (SROs) from the Sheriff’s Office to a game of kickball. Since Friday was a Digital Learning Day, our deputies gladly accepted the challenge! The game was filled with energy, laughter, and plenty of friendly competition. Though our deputies gave it their best, the students ultimately took home the win! More importantly, we all had a fantastic time connecting and strengthening the bond between our students and law enforcement. We’re incredibly grateful for the invitation and the opportunity to engage with these amazing students with the Paulding County School District. Thank you for an unforgettable game and we’re already looking forward to a rematch! #PauldingSheriff #SheriffAshleyHenson #SPHS #Kickball #PauldingSchools #ESEP

On Wednesday afternoon, Sheriff Ashley Henson presented Lieutenant Rickey Waters with a plaque in honor of his dedication, commitment, and leadership during his 13 years with the K-9 Unit. In January 2025, Lieutenant Waters transitioned into a new role as the head of the newly formed Community Relations Unit. Sheriff Henson shared his appreciation, stating, “As a former canine handler, I understand the challenges that come with this role. The time, commitment, and physical demands of working alongside a canine partner can be daunting, but it is also one of the most rewarding positions. When the time comes to part ways with your canine partner and the Unit, it can be a deeply emotional experience. Serving in this capacity for 13 years is no small feat, and Lt. Waters deserves recognition for his dedication to the Unit, the Sheriff’s Office, and our community.” Congratulations, Lt. Waters, on your new role, and thank you for your years of service! #PauldingSheriff #SheriffAshleyHenson #K9 #CanineUnit #Dedication

At the Paulding County, Georgia Board of Commissioners’ Meeting on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Deputy Bobby Kitchens was honored with the Board of Commissioners Public Safety Appreciation Award. This recognition came after a recommendation to Sheriff Ashley Henson following Deputy Kitchens’ exceptional actions during a critical incident in 2024. On December 17, 2024, Deputy Kitchens responded to a domestic situation where an individual had been shot and later succumbed to their injuries. Deputies quickly identified the suspect, and very swiftly, Deputy Kitchens was able to reach the suspect by phone, remaining calm and using de-escalation techniques that ultimately led to the suspect’s peaceful surrender. Deputy Kitchens’ ability to defuse a tense and potentially dangerous situation exemplifies the highest standards of law enforcement. His quick thinking and experience likely prevented further loss of life. Sheriff Henson expressed his deep pride and appreciation for Deputy Kitchens’ outstanding service and professionalism. Congratulations Deputy Kitchens and thank you for your dedication and service to this community. #PauldingSheriff #SheriffAshleyHenson #PublicSafetyAppreciationAward #DeEscalation

Corporal Craig Cross recently received these special cards from some of the students at the school where he serves as a School Resource Officer (SRO). He has made such an impact with his fun personality that they remembered the time he dressed up in an inflatable chicken costume, which has earned him the nickname “cop-a-doodle-doo.” #PauldingSheriff #SheriffAshleyHenson #SRO #SchoolResource

Last week, Sheriff Ashley Henson participated in the Constitutional Officers Association of Georgia (COAG) Day at the Georgia State Capitol. During his visit, Sheriff Henson visited with many Sheriffs from across the State of Georgia. Additionally, he visited with several State House Representatives, including Rep. Tyler Paul Smith (District 18), Rep. Joseph Gullett (District 19), Rep. Kimberly New (District 40), Rep. Trey Kelley (District 16), and Rep. Kimberly Alexander (District 66). It’s always a great opportunity to meet with fellow constitutional officers and other elected officials under the Gold Dome. #PauldingSheriff #SheriffAshleyHenson #COAGDay2025 #GAHouseOfRepresentatives #GeorgiaSheriffs
