As #ShelterAppreciationWeek comes to a close, it brings us great joy to share the three winners of our super shelter giveaway, presented in partnership with Vetoquinol USA. We appreciate everyone who took the time to enter a submission, and we extend our gratitude to ALL the nonprofit shelters throughout the nation, for the incredible work they do in providing the very best care to some of the animals most in need in their communities. That said, special congratulations to Butler County Animal Shelter in Morgantown, Kentucky, The Tenth Life in Xenia, Ohio, and The Greener Side Haven, Inc. in Beverly Hills, Florida. Butler County Animal Shelter: This shelter is working with a very small budget, which affords them a small, old building in need of many repairs. It is what you’d think of when imagining a small town Kentucky animal shelter. What sets this place apart is the leadership. The director, Ruby Fooks, eats, sleeps and breaths making her shelter better and giving the dogs and cats here a better life - often at her own expense. I know she has given up many of her own paychecks in exchange for being able to pay her employees and provide for the animals she and her team care for. This team is the most in need and the least likely to expect any kind of reward or recognition. The Tenth Life: Marsha and Jerry have given their whole lives to take care of the cats. They retired, and gave all of the savings they have accumulated along with their 401k to try and make a difference! They truly rely on donations to keep going. They deserve all of our help. The Greener Side Haven, Inc. This is a fantastic group that rescues all kinds of dogs, but specializes in seniors and medically needy dogs. They have been around for over 10 years! They do whatever they can to keep their animals happy and healthy.

Hosted in various regions of the U.S. several times throughout the year, our exclusive Guiding Practice Success (GPS) event connects veterinarians looking to open a new practice or expand an existing business, with all the information and resources they need to be able to see the process through, from exciting start to flourishing finish. Our most recent GPS get-together took place this past October in Dallas, Texas, spanning three jam-packed days.
