??Earlier today, the LETHE Project, in collaboration with AD-RIDDLE and Pattern-Cog, organised a webinar titled "How can #PublicInvolvement support research on dementia risk reduction?" ?? Moderated by Cindy Birck from Alzheimer Europe , the event brought together nearly 50 delegates, exploring how #PublicInvolvement plays a key role in #dementia #research. Thanks to all the incredible speakers Ana Diaz Ponce, Jeroen Bruinsma, Soraya Moradi Bachiller, Francesca and Miriam for sharing valuable insights including discussions on setting up advisory boards, views from researchers and advisory board member. During the webinar, Soraya Moradi Bachiller presented the Alzheimer Europe position paper on risk disclosure. She emphasised the importance of #PublicInvolvement in shaping these recommendations and shared the work done with the Pattern-Cog advisory board. Funded by ERA PerMed, Pattern-Cog stands for “Personalised aging pattern for early risk detection and prevention of cognitive impairment and dementia in cognitively healthy individuals”. Our European project is a three-year project and includes six partners from five European countries. The consortium gathers experts in the field of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, who have a unique and diverse expertise in dementia clinical trials, machine learning, bioinformatics, ethical aspects and public involvement activities, require to make Pattern-Cog a success. EP PerMed organised a conference on #PersonalisedMedicine research on 11 and 12 February 2025 in Berlin, Germany. The conference brought together around 250 international experts in the areas of personalised medicine and was opened by Carmen M Laplaza Santos, Head of Unit Health Innovations and Ecosystems at the European Commission. At the conference, we asked Carmen why personalised medicine is a priority for the European Commission. In her statement, Carmen said that the European Partnership for Personalised Medicine is an investment for the Commission to accelerate the spread of the development of personalised medicine approaches to all corners of Europe. ?? Earlier this month, the European Partnership for Personalised Medicine (EP PerMed) hosted its first-ever conference on Personalised Medicine Research in Berlin, Germany. The event brought together around 250 international experts to showcase cutting-edge research and its successful translation into clinical practice. ?? In parallel with the conference, two satellite events were held, including the ERA PerMed JTC2021 Midterm Seminar (by invitation only). Our Project Coordinator, Jussi Tohka, had the opportunity to attend this seminar and present the Pattern-Cog Project, contributing to important conversations around advancing personalised medicine. Today we are delighted to host our first EP PerMed conference on #PersonalisedMedicine research. We have two exciting days ahead of us, packed with insights into cutting-edge research and innovation in personalised medicine and how we can bring these approaches into clinical practice. The conference was opened by Carmen M Laplaza Santos, Head of Unit Health Innovations and Ecosystems at the European Commission and EP PerMed Coordinator Wolfang Ballensiefen. Their opening was followed by a review of 8 years of multinational research funding under ERA PerMed and EP PerMed by Monika Frenzel and our first keynote speech "Holistic View of Personalised Medicine Research and Current Status" by Etienne Richer. We are now looking forward to the first breakout sessions and a deep dive into many exciting research projects in the different areas of personalised medicine.
