So proud to be a Patients for Patient Safety US Champion for patient safety (https://lnkd.in/gTw9gTck)! PFPSUS is doing amazing things, and currently lifting up work around diagnostic errors, which disproportionately affect women/minoritized people. I can only imagine the incredibly positive impact it would have had on me physically and emotionally to have had the correct diagnoses timely instead of wrong diagnoses that led to decades-long delays in diagnosis and treatment. Did you know that many of the wrong diagnoses are psychiatric? Yes, "it's all in your head." What a terrible impact that has on us who need medical treatment, not psychiatric. It creates distrust of self and healthcare providers and amplifies the impact of those wrong diagnoses. We can do so much better! And Project Pivot (https://lnkd.in/gFkhTuds is doing just that). Patients for Patient Safety US (PFPS US)?forges ahead with Project PIVOT, capturing outcomes and experiences that matter most to patients who have experienced the dismissal of patient and family concerns that resulted in harm or a near miss. The patient input from Project PIVOT will inform the development of patient-reported measures used in quality assessment as well as measures used in patient-centered research and quality improvements, especially among older adults, persons with disabilities, and mothers of color, who all disproportionately experience patient harm. https://lnkd.in/eZKXD2jx #patientsafety #projectpivot #healthcare
