Juan has been a Pathways participant for a little over a year and a half, working with Team 2. During our chat with Juan, he kept us laughing with his endless jokes and quick wit! He gives back to his community by volunteering at his local church and helping his neighbors. With support from Pathways, Juan is addressing health challenges like joint pain through medications and care, and he’s especially grateful for the nurses on his team. 关于我们
Pathways to Housing PA empowers people with disabilities to improve their housing stability, achieve better health, and reclaim their lives. We start by housing people directly from the streets, without precondition. Then we address their underlying issues around mental health, addiction, medical care, and income to help integrate and welcome them back into our community.

Today, we’re sharing the second part of our Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week blog series, What Our Participants Want You to Know. Today’s post explores the realities of living unsheltered for years—or even decades. From navigating a complicated system to finding community in the face of constant upheaval, our participants remind us that homelessness isn’t a reflection of failure or laziness—it’s a testament to survival in a broken system. Today, on Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), we honor and remember the transgender individuals whose lives have been tragically lost to anti-transgender violence. TDOR began in 1999 as a vigil for Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998, and has since become a day to reflect on the violence faced by the transgender community while recommitting to advocacy and justice. Let us take a moment to honor those we’ve lost and stand together in support of the transgender community. Learn more about TDOR: https://glaad.org/tdor/

In today's post, we discuss the underlying causes of homelessness, including the lack of affordable housing, systemic inequalities, and more. Stay tuned for tomorrow's post where we’ll dive into what life is truly like living unsheltered for years—or even decades. Read Now: https://lnkd.in/ebvxGrUz

A recent article from Think Global Health highlights how overdose prevention services are being scapegoated for broader societal issues, especially in places like San Francisco and Vancouver. The same pattern is happening here in Philly, where despite evidence that these sites save lives, our leadership is shifting away from harm reduction in favor of more policing. We must continue to push for compassionate, proven harm reduction solutions that save lives. Read more: https://lnkd.in/exvfS8ij

After several years of living on the streets, Perma connected with Pathways through the persistence of Francis, a service coordinator on Team 9. Moving into his own apartment felt “like a heaven sent” and helped him start building healthier habits. Now, Perma is enjoying time with his grandson, focusing on his health, and finding joy in the little things. Read more about his journey in our Annual Report: https://lnkd.in/ezxAY36C
