Where do you enjoy making meaningful connections? Wednesday mornings at 9:00am is my favorite gathering to attend: 1 Million Cups Metro Detroit and Prince William Virginia. It’s truly not your typical “networking” group for entrepreneurs...there's free coffee, of course, but as an audience member and emcee (in Metro Detroit)... I know that just by BEING there, a new start-up entrepreneur will have more confidence in their business idea and the work they are obsessing about every day. We listen, we ask, we support that new business owner that is running at top speed to get their plans in action. What brings our 1 Million Cups chapters together every Wednesday morning from 9-10 am is the desire to break down the barriers to growing a business. We want to listen, to resource, to offer suggestions, to just...FEEL what it feels like to be in a presenters shoes and to let them know "You've got this!" Hey, why don't you join us? Ferndale at Incubizo on Wednesday morning? Its free (& so is the coffee) and its only about an hour of your time. We start hanging out at 8:30am, the presentation starts at 9am & its a wrap by 10. Here’s how it works… Each week an entrepreneur gives a 6-minute presentation about the problem their startup or business that’s less than five years old is resolving and tells us where they are STUCK. Then the audience offers support and connections to help them grow. It’s both powerful and transformative. Last week in Metro Detroit we had a teacher that has started up a better Audience Response system for meetings using radio waves and clickers vs WiFi and apps. He was stuck on how to quote a cost for his product that wouldn't push him away from a buyer. The week before we had a Life Coach with a sales & marketing background looking for suggestions on types of businesses that could team building through coaching. We also had a cyber software engineer leave his corp job to start up his own business when he found out his employer was paid seven-figures to lease him out to a partner-corporation. His issue? How can he manage doing the work and 'running a business'? This week we are hearing from a caterer turned Vegan-Salad-Meal Prep business owner that couldn't find what she wanted on grocer-shelves, so she is manufacturing her own...where could she use help, I wonder, from her community?
