NARI Remodeler of the Year: Residential Addition $250k - $500k This 1936 colonial had a gray, lackluster exterior that didn’t do justice to its potential. The homeowners felt the facade was flat and uninviting, with windows that allowed minimal natural light, leaving the home feeling dim and closed off. They envisioned a transformation where each room felt connected, flowing effortlessly from one to the next, creating an integrated space that bridged indoors and out. The goal was to make the exterior feel as much a part of the living experience as the interior—a cohesive, bright, and welcoming environment. It was time to bring this classic home to life. The existing kitchen was cramped, dark, and didn’t support the homeowners’ needs. With limited natural light and a dysfunctional layout, the kitchen lacked space for a proper island, and the refrigerator sat awkwardly in a bay that was likely originally intended as a breakfast nook. This setup made the kitchen feel isolated from the rest of the home, with no space to entertain or gather. The homeowners envisioned a transformation- an open, inviting space that would flow seamlessly into a new living room addition, creating the ideal setting for friends and family to come together.
