Great article. Are rainy days ahead for cloud computing? by Sean McManus. This does not apply to every company, especially the small business that only needs the Office 365 suite. We see this all the time. Companies spending 2-5X the price or more to have a "Line of Business" (LOB) program hosted by someone else. Not every LOB application is ready for the cloud. We always tell customers to run the numbers. Put some time into weighing every cost, on both sides of the equation. And when you compare the life of infrastructure, remember most companies warranty out to 6.5-7 years. Don't list your infrastructure costs on a 3 year replacement cycle. We love the cloud. We are pushing everything we can to it. But sometimes it's not the best choice. Especially when it will cost you an extra 2.5 million a year!
