Italian fisherman Paolo Fanciulli was determined to protect the Mediterranean ecosystem from the destructive impact of deep-sea trawlers. Despite his tireless efforts, including protests, sabotage, and impersonating a policeman, nothing seemed to work. Undeterred, Fanciulli devised an extraordinary plan: commissioning 10-ton marble sculptures to be placed on the ocean floor as a unique form of environmental activism.
