Earlier this month, the Pass the Plate Initiative successfully closed out the first cohort of mentees ever. From August 2023 to June 2024, the Founder and CEO of the nonprofit organization, Kiara Boyce, met with the scholars, ranging from the 9th to 12th grade from northern New Jersey and Chicago, Illinois, assisting them with their personal and academic goals.
Outside of the general body meetings and one-on-one mentorship sessions, the PTP Initiative also had the opportunity to host two virtual panels that was also open to young scholars outside of the cohort with the intention to spread as much valuable information as possible.
Our first panel was the "Mentorship Conference" featuring young professionals Na?ké N., Brittney Lacroix, Andrea Rone, Unique Akinloye, Alyssa Tasker, Leah Edwards, Madison Janey, Allyssa Thornton, and Kayla E. Webster. These wonderful ladies shared their academic journeys, how they achieved some of their accomplishments, and gave the best advice they would give to next generation of leaders.
The second panel, "Smart Girls get to the Bag", was led by Kiara Boyce. Here, attendees learned about the importance of investing in your future, the value of a dollar, and the different ways to afford a higher education.
Throughout the school year, our scholars remained steadfast and dedicated to their goals whilst maintaining quality grades and keeping up with their extracurricular activities. We couldn't be more proud of our superstars in the making and are eager to see what they will accomplish in the near and far future!
Deep gratitude is felt for everyone who contributed in any capacity to make all of this possible! With the summer season among us, the Pass the Plate Initiative looks forward to welcoming our Summer 2024 Cohort early next week.
