Centrus was proud to welcome U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Chair Christopher Hanson on Friday for a tour of the American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon, Ohio, where we are pioneering production of High-Assay, low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU.)? This is the only NRC-licensed #HALEU production facility in the United States, and one of just two licensed for LEU production.? The NRC plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective operation of America’s nuclear facilities.? We appreciate the chance to highlight our work in reclaiming American leadership in #nuclear fuel production.??

How powerful is the High-Assay, Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU) that Centrus is producing in Ohio today? Just three tablespoons of #HALEU is enough to meet an average American's electricity needs for a lifetime. Advanced nuclear reactors can provide vast amounts of clean, emissions-free electricity to drive our economy forward.

Last night, 60 Minutes featured Centrus’ American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon, Ohio — and how it holds the key to ending U.S. dependence on imported enriched uranium from Russia. As our CEO, Amir Vexler explains, filling the plant with centrifuges will take several years, but it would be enough to fully replace America’s imports from Russia. It’s time to start relying on American technology and American workers to meet our nuclear fuel needs:

NEWS: Centrus just won an award from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for production of High-Assay, Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU). The award could support a potential expansion of the American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon, Ohio. Centrus began first-of-a-kind HALEU production in Piketon last year; it is the only U.S. enrichment facility licensed to produce HALEU. We could bring significant new capacity online within 42 months of receiving the necessary funding and continue expanding beyond that as needed. Centrus (via our subsidiary, American Centrifuge Operating, LLC) was one of four awardees today, with a minimum contract value of $2 million and a maximum value for all awardees of $2.7 billion over a ten-year period.?The ultimate dollar amount associated with this award -- and the potential scale of the expansion supported -- will depend upon task orders subsequently issued to Centrus by the Department. We will manufacture the centrifuges and supporting equipment exclusively in the United States, relying upon domestic engineering and a domestic supply chain that currently spans 14 major, American-owned suppliers in 13 states and is expected to grow.? Fluor Corporation will serve as our engineering, procurement, and construction contractor for the project. Other key suppliers include: Curtiss-Wright Corporation Geiger Brothers, Inc. Another National Cleanup Workshop is in the books, and this year's event was the best one yet! L&A President Martin Schneider and Chief Operating Officer Christine Gelles led great discussions with senior representatives from the DOE Office of Environmental Management (EM), the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), industry and local governments on key issues facing the Department of Energy's cleanup efforts. If you attended their sessions, let us know what you thought. It was also an opportunity to get members of the L&A team together and engage with clients and colleagues (as well mark our 35th anniversary!) Thanks to EM, the Energy Communities Alliance and the Energy Facility Contractors Group (EFCOG) for putting on such a great event. We're already excited for next year! #LA35
