It was such an inspiring day at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Los Angeles Walk at Citadel Outlets! Around 15,000 energized walkers came together on October 19th to join the fight against breast cancer. The walk raised funds to help the American Cancer Society fight the disease through lifesaving research and essential programs and services. James Chang, President and CEO of PFCU, has been selected to serve as a member of the California Financial Educators Council (CFEC) Advisory Board. Today, Wescom Credit Union, along with 6 other local credit unions and the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues came together and hosted the Los Angeles County celebrations of International Credit Union Day. We observed the impact credit unions make globally, nationally, at the state level, and in our local communities. Thank you to all who came out to support the credit union movement.

A wonderful way to start the day! The Pasadena Police Foundation hosted its annual breakfast with Pasadena's Chief of Police, Gene Harris on Thursday October 17, 2024 at Hilton Pasadena. The fundraising event was intended to give residents, members of business, non-profit community, and friends an opportunity to meet with Police Chief Gene Harris and hear about the current goals and accomplishments of the Pasadena Police Department. This year, the Pasadena Police Foundation is raising funds to support various youth programs including the Kids Safety Academy, and the Explorer Program, the new Wellness Program, and K-9 Unit. Our CEO, James Chang, recently had the exciting opportunity to serve as Principal for a Day at John Marshall Fundamental School! It was an incredible experience for him to connect with students, hear from teachers, and witness first-hand the amazing things happening on campus. A huge thank you to Principal Lori Touloumian, Tony Gordo and Nancy Carol Inguanzo, the Pasadena Educational Foundation, and everyone who contributed to making the day so engaging and fun! We’re grateful to have been a part of it.

Our Bell Gardens Branch Manager Diana Herrera joined the community of Bell Gardens and the Bell Gardens Police Department for their quarterly Business Watch Meeting on October 16, 2024. It was an opportunity to share public safety concerns and meet other local business owners. For this meeting, Detective Valenzuela talked about fraud and forgery and gave tips about how to identify these things and how to prevent them at your business. Also in attendance was Bell Gardens Mayor Gabriela Gomez and the Bell Gardens Police Department. Your account security is important to us. October 17 was International Credit Union Day! Credit unions have been an important part of communities around the world. Since 1948, ICU Day has been celebrated globally as a way to recognize the values that credit unions operate on: cooperation, community, and member-focused service. As a not-for-profit financial institution, credit unions are owned by their members and they reinvest their earnings back into the community through financial education, lower rates, and fewer fees.
