It’s been a busy month for me at Partnership to End Addiction meeting with families and other organizations across the country. I was able to participate in the #google impact summit and then the #Mobilizerecovery bus tour. Here are some highlights from a few of the 10 states I visited, California, Utah, Colorado, Iowa, Maryland, Virginia and D.C.

Earlier this month, we had the privilege of bringing together a group of passionate public health professionals who serve Hispanic communities.? We presented on risk factors that Hispanic families face, gave an overview of the value of harm reduction, and organized a panel discussion about community outreach strategies. The spirit of connection in the room led to open conversations about barriers that prevent people from getting the care they need. We are grateful to our Hispanic Harm Reduction Summit co-hosts Latino Commission on AIDS, HISPANIC HEALTH NETWORK INC and the Latino Religious Leadership Project as well as the panelists who donated their time: Andrew Karim of Catholic Charities, Karina Escamilla of the Latino?Religious Leadership Project,?Trena Yonkers-Talz of Grupo de Mujeres Latinas (GML), Yoyce Geronimo Galvan of?Partnership to End Addiction and Cheyenne Morillo, MPH of the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. ? ? Huge shoutout to Release Recovery Foundation who partnered with us on a naloxone training, which closed out the event. (Thanks Zac C. and Charles Lerner!) Our director of prevention services Cori Hammond, MPH recently joined Lauren Sisler and Jim Dunaway for a virtual event about resilience. They talked about the powerful role of sports in preventing substance use and promoting mental health.? ? Cori said, "I know it can be really overwhelming to think about how to prevent substance use for young people and how to keep them safe as we move through the world. But just know that anything someone does as a parent or a friend or a coach or a caregiver to help keep kids taken care of and make them feel safe and loved is prevention.”? ?
