The Chehalis Student Achievement Initiative (SAI) recognizes that entire families thrive when parents and caregivers feel supported and have education and career development opportunities. This is where the Cornerstone program comes in: funded by a Regional Challenge Grant from the Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC), the program addresses various needs highlighted by initiative data, through flexible funding and family services, career counseling and 1:1 assistance, adult education opportunities, and other types of student support. By 2030, at least 70% of jobs in our state will be filled by workers who complete a postsecondary credential, such as a degree, apprenticeship, or industry-aligned certificate or license. According to WA STEM, 67% of those will require postsecondary STEM credentials. Through the support of a Career Connect Washington Explore Grant, Jefferson Healthcare introduced eighth graders to the world of health care, from taking blood pressure to exploring an ambulance.
