At this event, school teams from across the country will share bold, student-centered approaches to redesigning education. This year’s challenge encouraged teams—students, teachers, and school leaders—to design learning experiences that deepen student engagement or connect them to career pathways. Many teams have blended both approaches to create innovative models that inspire and prepare students for success. Over the past year, these teams have worked closely with their school communities to refine strategies that enhance student engagement and teacher effectiveness. On Saturday, we were proud to announce the official launch of a new statewide student success coach strategy in New York thanks to a $5M multi-year investment from the Einhorn Collaborative. This partnership will expand our work with SUNY to create more opportunities for young people to service, more pathways to teaching. We are also inviting SUNY students to serve with City Year before, during, or after working toward a degree at one of SUNY's 64 campuses. A 2024 City Year Alumni Bridging study conducted in partnership with Einhorn and Cornell University provided evidence that the durable skills gained during a year of service - skills that include critical thinking, creativity and leadership — are helping young people be well-prepared for college, career and life. The Partnership for Student Success is thrilled to see that two coalition members -- The State University of New York and City Year -- announced last week that they are expanding their partnership to enhance service and educational opportunities for college students across New York State. This partnership, made possible through an investment from Einhorn Collaborative, enables SUNY students to earn college credit for prior service experience. It also creates a new part-time student success coach role as part of the Empire State Service Corps that will enable SUNY students to support K-12 students with with academic and mentoring support. What an incredible conversation yesterday at the Promising Practices Panel at AASA, The School Superintendents Association's 2025 National Conference on Education! ??
