Have you heard of “No Vote, No Grumble”? In 2006, our founder and former CEO, Jan Dill, created "No Vote, No Grumble" signs to encourage civic engagement. The initiative was so impactful that it grew into a PIDF program, aiming to educate 10,000 people about the importance of voter registration, education, and participation. Through sign-waving, media campaigns, voter registration booths, and even a rally at ?Iolani Palace, the goal was reached. The heart of the "No Vote, No Grumble" program was this message: Informed and engaged communities are essential to a healthy society. As Election Day approaches, we encourage everyone to make their voice heard by submitting their ballot by Tuesday, November 5th. Together, we can build a stronger, more engaged community. #OurKaiauluVotes #NoVoteNoGrumble #PIDFPrograms #CivicEngagement #Vote2024 #LeadershipInAction?

In today's #ThankfulThursday we are sending a huge mahalo to the sponsors of our 2024 Ulu Hana Pewa Awards, where we honored Kimberly Ka?ai, Principal of MAUNALOA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, and ?āina Akamu, K-12 Curriculum Director at Kau High & Pahala Elementary School. Special thanks to our Nā Mele sponsors—First Hawaiian Bank, The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, and Hawaiian Electric Industries, Inc.—for their generous support! The night was filled with excitement as guests gathered at The Royal Hawaiian Hotel and enjoyed a cocktail hour with pūpū’s on the lawn, a lively auction, musical performances by Dallas, Pua Perkins and friends, Bobby Moderow, and a delicious mea?ai (meal). We were honored to gather to celebrate this year's Pewa Awardees, Kim and ?āina, with beautifully ?olena dyed and hand-printed kīhei from our Ke Kama Pono program. These remarkable individuals, who never sought recognition, have gone above and beyond for their students, believing it's simply their duty. Mahalo nui loa to Kim and ?āina for their unwavering dedication to their communities and for shining a light on the importance of education for the next generation! #ThankfulThursday #PewaAwardees #UluHana #UluHanaPewaAwards #communityheroes #hawaiisunsungheroes #PIDF #PIDFoundation

This year's Pewa Awardees, 'āina and Kim, exemplify the pewa in so many ways. Although to them it may just seem like they're just doing their "everyday work", they are positively impacting their students' life through their service to the Ka?ū and Maunaloa communities. Mahalo!
I’m so amazed and inspired by this year’s Pewa Awardees, Kim Ka’ai of Moloka’i and ‘āina Akamu of Moku o Keawe. Mahalo for being exemplary community warriors, incredible school leaders, and beautiful people. And great smelling with all those lei, too! Mahalo for all you do…

Kehalani Foodland Branch teammates hosted a school supply backpack donation for the Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Center, Inc. to help underserved keiki and families start the school year strong. ? Teammates Kylie and Brandon joined Partners In Development Foundation, an ASB Kahiau partner, in their community workday at Kupu Aina. They spent the day removing weeds and vines to ensure that local plants continue to thrive. ? Our Treasury team worked with Hawaii Nature Center to clean the area around its Makiki Valley campus by removing invasive plants, trimming hedges, weeding and raking. Great job, team! ??
