Partner for Water exists to raise capital and facilitate water development projects in West Africa.

关于我们

In Nigeria, 57 million people don't have access to safe water and almost 60,000 children under five years old die every year from diarrheal diseases caused by poor water and sanitation. Nigeria's water infrastructure is also suffering from severe neglect. Rural areas face a decline in services and in urban areas. People are forced to buy water from private vendors. Partners For Water exists to do something about that. We have focused on projects in the north central part of the country, where research has shown that villages and communities' main sources of water are from either streams or rivers that are extremely far from home. In order to change lives, we partner with people like you to initiate and facilitate water projects in Nigeria.

Just in time for Christmas, the gift that keeps on giving. This project was funded and planned to begin in August of this year; however, because of the untimely and unexpected passing of the leader of our partner NGO in Nigeria, it has just been completed. Without the team in Nigeria regrouping and bringing the late Dr. Samson Chuga’s vision to pass this would not have been possible. Special thanks to all of our partners who funded this project and delivered a priceless gift to the people of Duduguru village, Nassawara State, Nigeria ????. It is truly better to give than it is to receive. #partnersforwater #boreholedrilling #cleanwaterforall #sustainabledevelopmentgoal6

Over the last year, our leader, Jason Townsell, and the leadership of Chuga and Friends Foundation embarked on a research study to observe and assess the perceived effects of clean water infrastructure on consumer wellness in Nasarawa State, Nigeria. Here is the link to the study https://lnkd.in/e_uP45Gv ? The study focused on the perceptions of female consumers, as they are the primary burden carriers related to water collection and familial provision. Specifically, the study used a semi-structured survey with open-ended and closed-ended questions to establish an understanding of consumer perceptions related to the relationship between the installation of clean water infrastructure and its perceived wellness effects in six areas: health and hygiene, community/social, education and/or vocation, psychological well-being, safety and security, and religious/spiritual life. ? Results of the study indicate that the installation of clean water infrastructure has a beneficial wellness effect on consumers in each of the areas surveyed, with the perceived beneficial effects in health and hygiene, psychological wellness, and safety and security being the most significant.

This past weekend we received a phone call informing us that the leader of our partner NGO in Nigeria, Dr. Samson Chuga, had unexpectedly and tragically passed away. The NGO's leadership asked our leader, Jason Townsell, to write a tribute that could be read at his funeral in Nigeria next week. His tribute is below: I met Samson nearly ten years ago. From the moment I met him, I knew he was unlike any man I had ever met. As our friendship grew, I began to identify what was so different about him from anything I had ever encountered; it was the breadth and depth of his character. Never before had I met someone so selfless, so caring, so wise, and so committed to the cause of improving the lives of the people of his homeland. Samson taught me a lot about being a man of integrity, hope, and faith. Mainly, he showed what it was to be the best you can be all the time and he gave me the confidence to believe in the impossible. I am not a water engineer, geologist, or anything else that would qualify me to lead a water infrastructure organization. But he believed that together we could do it, and together we did. Since October 2018, Partners For Water and Chuga and Friends Foundation have completed 42 water infrastructure projects in Nasarawa State, Nigeria. Without his vision and dedication, none of what has been accomplished in Nigeria would have been possible. The day he passed away, he and I texted about the next water project, which was not unique. We always discussed what was next and how we would change Nigeria forever. We bounced ideas off each other, and each of us had an immense belief in the ability of the other to accomplish those things. We always talked about how we would do it together. The thought of going forward in his vision without him is almost unbearable, but the idea of not carrying on with his dream of improving the lives of his people is even more intolerable. Samson was my partner, mentor, and, most of all, he was my friend. He embodied everything I want to be as a leader and a man. His dreams for his country, people, and family will live on. Our work will live on, and his vision will come to pass through each of us who knew him and loved him. I am immensely blessed for knowing Samson for the time I did and strive every day to not just be enough, but to live my life the way he lived his, fully and completely. Jason Townsell
