Fun times at the AILA MRC in Chicago! A few takeaways stood out: AI for legal is no longer "coming"—it's here. ?? Lawyers we spoke with weren’t just curious about AI; they know it can transform their practice. The conversations have shifted from "if" to how to integrate it effectively. For Founders: make your booth fun ?? We gave out stress balls (good conversation starter: "Need a stress ball for H-1B season?"), and they were a hit. People saw others playing with them and had to track us down to get their own. And... we took a big swing with our business cards. No egg-shell white, we went with a "Gold Card" (a little joke inspired by a certain $5M immigration proposal). It got plenty of laughs and kept things memorable. Had a blast connecting with everyone for Parley (YC S24)'s first booth! Looking forward to the next one.

Fun fact: We actually built the TN as our first visa type when we were applying to Y Combinator. It was our earliest demo and there wasn't even a UI. Now, it’s powering real firm workflows every day. One of our most popular features doesn't use AI. It's fascinating how AI can unlock entirely new use cases that might not seem obvious at first. At Parley (YC S24), we’ve seen this in action: our AI drafts an immigration petition and that application contains ordered supporting exhibits. That means when it’s time to submit and compile your exhibits, we can arrange them for you—so you can combine them into one single PDF without the headache of specifying the order file by file (the old way). Combining files itself isn’t an AI feature, but having them automatically ordered is a new “unlock” that wouldn’t have happened without an AI-driven foundation. That’s because we’re focused on reducing the time spent on getting to a?final?draft of a visa application. Our customers success means as little time spent assembling a visa application as possible. Fun little improvement that we shipped to help illustrate that: Auto-fill from a resume. ? Why should someone have to type in all the details that they already have elsewhere? Instead, if you have a resume, we can begin collecting context without you having to type anything. This video shows it off for an EB-1A visa, but we do this across the board. And to nerd out a bit — I love use cases like this where you don’t need the most intelligent AI reasoning model, you need the fastest. So we made an intentional decision to make a quick LLM call. Speed = quality.

The legal field is one of the last industries resisting implementing technology. There are a decent amount of rationales for this phenomenon. Ultimately, as long as we implement AI with care, there is no reason we shouldn't be leveraging this incredible technology to improve our services.
