Like other school districts, Parkway Schools has experienced an alarming increase in threats this month. We were honored last week to participate in a press conference with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri to send the message that the threats must stop.? Greg Wagener, Parkway’s coordinator of student discipline, shared how we partner with law enforcement to quickly investigate and identify the source of a threat, while at the same time increasing security to ensure student and staff safety. These threats are no laughing matter, and they carry real consequences. Parkway has made it clear that any student caught making threats—whether in person, over social media, or through any other form of communication—will face severe consequences. We want to remind everyone that reporting is key to preventing harm. Please report threats to law enforcement and/or Courage2Report, and don't reshare. By working together, we can ensure our schools remain safe, welcoming places for learning. A full-circle moment at Ross Elementary: Ashley Bryant returns as a first-grade teacher alongside her own first-grade teacher, Lana Fite, who now teaches second grade. Last night we thanked and recognized our Parkway partners for the ongoing support they provide for our athletics and activities at our 2024 Partnership Tailgate. With their partnership, we can provide our student-athletes with high-quality and safe athletic experiences. Our corporate partners have helped provide our students with football helmets, soccer goals, wrestling mats, track and field equipment, and more. They help ensure the continuation of high-quality education and support our extracurricular activities. Thank you to all of our partners for rallying together to support Parkway students. Parkway is one of just two districts in Missouri that has installed BusGates stop arm extensions. Mercedes Mackay of KSDK - 5 On Your Side reported on the early and positive impact of the extended stop arms. We're thrilled to announce that our Board of Education has unanimously selected Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) to lead our national search for the next superintendent of Parkway Schools. HYA is a leading national search firm with more than 1,600 successful placements. The search comes as Superintendent Dr. Keith Marty announced he'll retire in June after 14 years of service. This fall, we'll be inviting staff, parents, students, and community members to help us define the qualities needed in our next superintendent. We're excited to continue our partnership with Parkway Schools. Today, we celebrated the groundbreaking of the additions and renovations to their North High School facility. We are set to begin phase three, which will feature 63,000 SF of additions, including a new secure entrance vestibule and a two-story family and consumer science (FACS) / science wing, as well as interior renovations to accommodate administration.
