  • Georgia G. Moore was a pioneering African American educator, poet, and civic leader in Louisville. She taught at Western Colored School and the Colored Special School, actively participated in civic organizations, and was involved in suffrage debates advocating for women’s voting rights. This Women’s History Month, we honor Georgia G. Moore’s enduring legacy and her impact on Louisville’s educational and civic landscape.

  • Alberta O. Jones was a trailblazer for justice in Louisville. As one of Kentucky’s first Black female attorneys, she fought for civil rights, registered thousands of Black voters, and became the city’s first female prosecutor. Her dedication to equality left a lasting impact, and her legacy continues to inspire. This Women’s History Month, we celebrate Alberta O. Jones and her lasting impact on Louisville.
