If you’re traveling this Thanksgiving, be prepared for crowds —?even more so than last year. That’s because nearly 80 million Americans are expected to travel over the holiday, breaking last year’s record. What’s interesting now —?though —?is that travel habits appear to be changing. ? People aren’t sticking to the standard Wednesday to Sunday travel. Many are trying to avoid the “rush” by departing on Tuesday and returning on Monday. ? “Revenge travel,” which took off after the pandemic, is slowing down. Americans are no longer cramming in many trips to make up for “lost” time. They’re more likely to take one or two big trips a year. Do you have plans to travel over the holiday or do you prefer to travel when it's less busy? #Thanksgiving #thanksgivingtravel #travel #revengetravel #holidays #holidaytravel https://lnkd.in/gTrtYfUn

What happens when you gather some of the leading clean energy/mobility experts in a room for a day? You identify some of the biggest pain points precluding fleet electrification — and the feasible and innovative approaches to solve them. That’s what unfolded yesterday at the 2024 Northeast Clean Transportation Summit at Con Edison where our CEO Mike Landau presented. He proposed a plan to develop a 50-megawatt hub in the Northeast Corridor. The goal? To sustainably and effectively power electric fleets and vehicles. Each presenter was asked the same compelling question: What’s at risk if we don’t accept the challenge put forward? Mike’s response was especially poignant. “This isn’t optional,” Mike said of building the megawatt hub. “It’s a rallying cry for the industry.” #energy #cleanenergy #mobility #cleantransportation #transportation #EVs #electrification #electricfleets #fleetelectrification Advanced Energy Group ACT | The Alliance for Climate Transition Adam Ruder Yann Kulp Josh Ryor

When our CEO Mike Landau founded ParkMyFleet in 2020, he had no choice but to establish a remote operation. Four years in, he wouldn't have it any other way. He shares why in this compelling Business Insider essay, edited by Jyoti Mann. As the RTO debate ensues, where do you stand —?are hybrid opportunities here to stay or should employees be expected to report to the office full time? Give it a read and share your thoughts in the comments! #WFH #remotework #RTO #returntooffice #workfromhome #hybrid #hybridwork https://lnkd.in/esAD5nG6
I'm the CEO of a remote-first company. I'll never ask my employees to return to the office.

Is it really worthwhile for trucking companies to invest in parking? In short: Yes. The industry is currently facing a 94% turnover rate of truck drivers. One of the biggest reasons? Low pay and unpaid time working. Searching for parking translates into an annual loss of about $5,500 for drivers. Companies spend roughly $5,000 to fill each vacant driver role. Having access to safe, reliable and well-located parking could help to finally break this disruptive cycle.

Initially, Robotaxi companies were reluctant to talk about their remote human technicians because it might’ve damaged the brand image. But now that the industry is seeing persistent wariness from the public, these companies are opening up more about the people who remotely step in when vehicles get in trouble — measures that might encourage more hesitant passengers to take a ride in a driverless car. When a Zoox vehicle, for example, struggled to get around a fire truck, a remote employee was able to redirect the vehicle by plotting a path on their screen. These employees are also able to communicate with passengers directly, if there’s a need. It’s still unclear how many remote human technicians companies like Zoox employ, how much this added support costs and how long these roles will be necessary. For now, these positions seem crucial: the vehicles need the support techs to “train” them and the passengers need the techs to trust the vehicle. #zoox #robotaxis #selfdrivingcars #autonomousvehicles #driverlesscars https://lnkd.in/eadE9p7r

A trucking advocacy group echoed and amplified the primary concerns of the industry at a weeklong event in Washington, DC with the hopes of inspiring meaningful change that could ripple throughout the trucking space. Members of the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) participated in 100 meetings with lawmakers, federal legislative staff and industry experts and tackled numerous pressing topics including: ?? The need for expanded parking access? ?? Concerns around fleet electrification? ?? Issues related to recruitment and retention The goal was to clearly elucidate the issues plaguing the trucking industry that preclude truckers, companies and others from operating at an optimal capacity and to highlight solutions that could effectively address them. “We as an industry and as an association are speaking with one voice and putting forth the shield,” TSA’s David Heller said.? https://lnkd.in/eU3NpjVR
