Congratulations to the students of the IIT Architecture Chicago for completing another great semester! Jennifer Park and Mouna Chahin’s advanced studio had a successful review, showcasing their final design proposals for a cultural center on Chicago’s Cultural Mile. The students showed interest in many diverse cultural backgrounds, sparking engaging discussions on how culture is interpreted and translated, and how it influenced their design outcomes. Last Friday, the photographers behind the ART WORKS Projects exhibition Borders Cruzadas: A Welcoming Place, Oscar B. Castillo and Wil Sands, led a tour and workshop with a group for community navigators representing 11 different immigrant aid organizations across Chicago.?The tour covered installations in 3 parks: Humboldt Park, Marquette Park, and Ping Tom Park.??Founding Partner, Jennifer Park represented ParkFowler Plus’ contribution to the design of these installations which are on display till the end of the month. It was inspiring to connect with the photographers and the community activist and listen to their stories and their motivation to bring attention to narratives of migration.?We are humbled to play a small role in this big endeavor. ? ART WORKS Projects recently launched Borders Cruzadas: A Welcoming Place, is an outdoor installation series featuring the work of international photographers Oscar B. Castillo and Wil Sands. This series of installations is part of AWP's public engagement campaign leveraging the universal power of photography and storytelling to foster a more inclusive discourse on immigration. Small acts of welcome can turn urban spaces into refuges of hope and belonging. To spread the awareness of these personal stories to wide audience, the installations are spread throughout public park space in Chicago and currently at viewable in Humboldt Park, Marquette Park, and Ping Tom Park.
