  • Two Parker Police Officers Promoted to Sergeant Congratulations to Sergeant Herrera and Sergeant Ort on their well-deserved promotions! Family, friends, and coworkers gathered today to celebrate this significant milestone as Chief Tsurapas presented Herrera and Ort with their Sergeant badges. Parker Mayor Josh Rivero joined Town Councilmembers Anne Barrington, Erik Frandsen and Brandi Wilks to congratulate the new Sergeants. The Parker Police Department hired Sergeant Herrera in 2016, and he has excelled in both patrol and specialized roles. He served as a School Resource Officer (SRO) for the last 2.5 years, demonstrating exceptional dedication to student safety. His impressive resume includes membership on the Douglas County Regional SWAT Team, extensive training certifications (Krav Maga, Active Threat Response), and numerous commendations, culminating in a Chief's Commendation. Herrera's leadership qualities were evident during his time in our Police Training Officer program, 2022-present. He effectively supervised and mentored fellow officers after completing the 160-hour supervisory training program. His proven leadership, specialized training, and commitment to excellence make Herrera a valuable asset to the Sergeant ranks. Sergeant Ort began his career with the Parker Police Department in 2015. He started his career as a Patrol Officer, was selected for the special assignment of Detective, and has been a member of the Police Training Officer Program since 2019. As a Detective, Ort excelled in investigating complex cases, demonstrating expertise in managing investigations and ensuring community safety. He completed the 160-hour supervisory training program and effectively led officers as an Acting Sergeant, showcasing strong leadership and a commitment to excellence. With his extensive training, including certifications in Krav Maga, RedMan, and Tactical Combat Casualty Care, coupled with his proven leadership and investigative skills, Sergeant Ort is well-prepared to excel in his new role.

  • "Thank You to Our Officers for Keeping Us Safe" Officers responded to Kohl's on a call of two theft suspects. When the suspects attempted to leave the store, Parker Police Officers were there to greet them. Officers arrested the first suspect inside Kohl's. The second suspect left Kohl's and ran through the parking lot into the nearby Chili's. After a quick trip through the kitchen, our Sergeant tackled the armed suspect and took him into custody to a round of applause by Parker residents dining at Chili's. We are very grateful no one was injured and proud of our officers for arresting these suspects. Below is a message of appreciation from a Parker resident who saw the arrest. I wanted to reach out and let you know how amazing all of your officers were during a crazy dinner experience. We were having dinner to celebrate my daughter's birthday at Chilis on Twenty Mile. I am not sure what happened in the Kohl's area on Twenty Mile, but I can make some guesses as to what led to an armed criminal running through Chilis and being tackled right next to our table. The police handled the situation with the utmost professionalism and were amazing. It was some of the best real-life experience I could ever give my children. I'm certain seeing someone tackled and then arrested left an impression about both not being a criminal and how amazing and helpful police are. The police treated the criminal, once no longer a threat to my family and everyone in the restaurant and surrounding area, with dignity and professionalism that was second to none and was very impressive given the fact that he was armed and I'm certain not a fan of the police. They did their job so well, kept the community safe, and were upstanding individuals throughout. It will be a birthday to remember, and I wanted to say thank you to our officers for keeping us safe and working so hard!

  • Meet Our New Cadets The two newest Parker Police Department cadets started at the Highlands Ranch Law Enforcement Training Academy yesterday. Cadets Nguyen and Taylor begin their 21-week journey working to be the newest Parker Police Officers. We are grateful for their commitment to keep Parker and its residents safe and wish them the best of luck. Cadets Nguyen and Taylor wrote short bios to introduce themselves to Parker residents. Hello, my name is Cadet Nguyen! I was born and raised in the southwest region of Denver, CO, where I attended elementary, middle, and high school. I then attended Metropolitan State University of Denver and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice & criminology, with a minor focus in psychology. I’ve worked in retail and customer service as a student before gaining experience as a Community Service Officer for the Auraria Campus Police Department. That experience has led me to work for The Parker Police Department as a Police Officer Recruit. Parker was a town that I always find myself coming back to with my family and friends, and I’m very excited to go through this process of becoming a Police Officer for the town and making this my new home! Hello, my name is Cadet Taylor! I grew up here in Parker and attended Elizabeth High School. Before joining Parker Police, I worked in customer service, photography, and, most recently, in loss prevention for almost three years right here in Parker. During this job, I connected with many of the officers and further drove my passion for law enforcement. I sought a career with Parker due to the incredible support from the community and the department’s commitment to a close-knit relationship with the residents here. I’m honored to represent the Town of Parker throughout the academy and look forward to serving the community following graduation!

  • Enjoy Your Two-Day Retirement, Sergeant Epp Sergeant Epp retired from the Parker Police Department last week after more than sixteen years of service to Parker residents. Sergeant Epp was hired in 2008 and worked on patrol, and he was promoted to Sergeant in 2016. When he retired, he was the Patrol Administrative Sergeant, overseeing the Traffic and Accident Reconstruction Team and was an accident investigator. Sergeant Epp is passionate about emergency management as an instructor in critical incident response, the Community Emergency Response Team and water rescue. He also worked with local businesses on emergency response plans. Sergeant Epp retired on Friday, January 3, and started his new job as the Town of Parker Emergency Manager on Monday, January 6. In his new role, Sergeant Epp will focus on developing and implementing comprehensive emergency management strategies to ensure the safety and preparedness of Parker's residents and businesses. His extensive experience in critical incident response, traffic management, and emergency planning makes him an invaluable asset to the town. Sergeant Epp's dedication to public safety and his deep understanding of community needs will continue to benefit Parker in his new capacity. His transition from the Police Department to the Town's Emergency Manager highlights his commitment to serving and protecting the community, even beyond his years in law enforcement. We wish Sergeant Epp all the best in his new role and look forward to seeing the positive impact he will have on Parker's emergency preparedness and response efforts. We hope you enjoyed your two-day retirement!
