If a father is not taking the full parental leave available to them, that's a red flag. Not against the father, but against the employer. ?? How does the workplace culture support fathers? Transforming Parental Leave from HR Initiative to Finance Solution: Lessons from Parento's Journey We spoke with Dirk Doebler, founder of Parento, about building a category-defining insurance platform with a 95 NPS score. Here are the key go-to-market lessons from their journey: → Solve the hidden blocker. Parento discovered parental leave wasn't stalled by HR resistance, but by finance uncertainty. They transformed a benefits conversation into a finance solution focused on ROI and cost certainty. → Challenge traditional ICP metrics. Company size and industry weren't predictive of success. They found psychographic factors - genuine investment in employee wellbeing - mattered more than firmographic data. → Build dual-stakeholder messaging. Finance needed ROI clarity and predictable costs, while HR needed implementation support. Parento developed distinct but complementary narratives for each audience. → Convert market myths into advantages. Common objections (mass exodus post-leave, men not taking leave) became opportunities to demonstrate value through data-driven counter-narratives. → Expand beyond core innovation. Their unique insurance product opened doors, but comprehensive support services drove engagement. Two-thirds of eligible parents use their program, averaging 13 hours of support.
