S/4HANA’s real-time data, embedded analytics, and cloud extensibility can transform how you work with suppliers and manage spend. But that future hinges on nailing integration today. Skip these topics, and you’re not migrating—you’re firefighting.??? 1. Decoding the “Principle of One” S/4HANA’s “Principle of One” cuts redundant functions. SRM’s supplier portals, RFx processes, and catalog tools don’t all map directly to S/4HANA’s MM-PUR module. Map your SRM processes now to avoid losing critical capabilities. Use SAP’s Simplification List to inventory SRM processes and match them to S/4HANA equivalents. 2. Master Data: The Business Partner Mandate ?SRM manages supplier data separately, often with custom fields. S/4HANA’s Business Partner (BP) model unifies it all, requiring Customer/Supplier Integration (CVI). Clean data is non-negotiable—mess it up, and procurement stalls. Its good to start data cleanup with CVI_COCKPIT and aim for 90%+ quality before migration. 3. Hybrid Integration: SRM and S/4HANA Coexistence SAP allows SRM and S/4HANA to coexist syncing POs, supplier data, and workflows. It’s a phased migration lifeline—but integration must be rock-solid. It is advised to test data flows in an S/4HANA sandbox, focusing on PO replication and peak load performance. 4. Custom Code and Legacy Interfaces SRM’s custom enhancements—like SUS tweaks or sourcing logic—may break in S/4HANA’s HANA model. Legacy interfaces to portals or ERPs need retooling too, Run SAP Readiness Check to identify and refactor critical code now. 5. External System Connectivity SRM connects to supplier networks, third-party ERPs, and catalogs. S/4HANA’s modern APIs (via SAP Integration Suite) shift the integration landscape. Legacy middleware might not cut it. Map and test all SRM integrations against S/4HANA with real-world traffic. 6. Procurement Process Realignment SRM shines in catalog management and RFx; S/4HANA’s MM-PUR lags there. You might need Ariba or a hybrid SRM setup to bridge gaps.
