  • Cheers to the International Paralympic Committee on their continued leadership. So much great work to be done all over the world. Including right in our own back yard. Join our team of supporters to help promote access to sport for persons with a disability. We use sport as a catalyst for life. It’s so much more than sport. It’s so exciting.

“We cannot achieve equality and inclusion in our world until our cities are accessible, our schools inclusive, and the right of access to sport for the world’s 1.3 billion persons with disabilities is a reality.” On Thursday IPC President Andrew Parsons and Paralympian Ileana Rodriguez spoke at the Sports for Sustainable Development Summit in Paris, France, calling upon world leaders to expand the number of accessible and inclusive sport facilities worldwide. During the Summit, countries and sport stakeholders made clear their determination to ensure that sport contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals. Various actors were invited to support the 10 tangible commitments of the Paris Agreement for Sport and Sustainable Development. Commitment 7 under the header equality and inclusion reads: “To make physical activity and sport accessible to all, given that one in three women do not manage to practice sufficient physical activity and that 15% of the world’s population has a disability, with a particular focus on the situation of refugees. As part of this commitment, the IPC announced that it will provide expertise in the design of accessible infrastructure, with the IPC Accessibility Guide included as criteria for all sport infrastructure projects funded by Coalition for Sport for Sustainable Development members. • Some excited athletes ready to make their mark in Miramar! ParaSport Spokane has 10 athletes competing at the U.S. Paralympic Track and Field team trials. We’re glad to have competed on a similar Mondo America SuperX Mondo surface at our meet, the Pine Cone Classic at Whitworth University, just over a month ago.

  • Such a great ambassador for sport and amputees. We’re glad to have helped Lindi Marcusen chart her path as a Para athlete to get to this level of performance and exposure. We’re stoked for things to come.

We are thrilled to welcome Lindi Marcusen as Ottobock North America's newest ambassador!?? Lindi's journey is truly remarkable. Following a life-changing car accident that resulted in the loss of her leg, she discovered and embraced adaptive sports and healing through movement. Transitioning from a background in gymnastics to excelling in para-athletics, Lindi proves that challenges lead to greatness with the right mindset. ? Join us in welcoming Lindi to a team dedicated to empowering and celebrating stories like hers. ????♀? ? Welcome to the Ottobock family, Lindi!??? #Ambassador #ParaAthlete #OP #AdaptiveSports #Ottobock #WeEmpowerPeople

  • There are so many potential athletes out there who could be participating in the ParaSport system. Unfortunately too few experts are knowledgeable enough about where the disability and sport communities intersect. Along with a severe lack of consistent and recurring training sites for developing athletes, the athlete pathway is widely varied and inconsistent. Add in access to competence in the technology space, savvy athletes are seeking out better training environments to grow. Taylor happened to connect with us in 2022 and really took a good look at her involvement in Para Athletics in 2023 and made an exciting discovery. Far too often kids in sports are written off as clumsy and uncoordinated. But what if that’s the way they’re wired? It took a major knee injury and complication during surgery for Taylor to seek the Paralympic movement as an option, little did she know she was always classifiable and no one around her recognized it. https://lnkd.in/gtbgFvCf
