Delivering Real Time Intervention of Wound Infection | BLUE KNIGHT? Company

关于我们

ParaNano Wound Care, LLC is a pre-clinical-stage company focused on developing and commercializing bioactive nanofiber membranes to detect infection in wounds. ParaNano Wound Care addresses an enormous gap in the wound care industry: there is no way to continuously monitor wounds for infection in an outpatient setting. ParaNano has solved this problem with our Nanosheet? Biosensor, a flexible nanofiber membrane that visually changes color when infection is detected all with no wires, batteries, or cumbersome device. The progressive color change is easy to interpret (if it has turned green your wound is infected). Our Nanosheet Biosensor provides continuous wound monitoring between clinician visits, so both a caregiver and the patient of any skill level can detect an infection in any setting.

  • Transforming Wound Care:?Smart Monitoring, Effective Interventions Chronic wounds are a significant concern, with their prevalence among Medicare beneficiaries increasing from 14.5% in 2014 to 16.4% in 2019. Notably, the largest rise was observed in beneficiaries under 65, with prevalence rates climbing from 12.5% to 16.3% in males and 13.4% to 17.5% in females. This underscores the growing need for effective wound management solutions across diverse patient populations. Traditional clinical signs of infection, such as erythema, can be challenging to detect in patients with highly pigmented skin, leading to delayed diagnoses and treatment. A study analyzing 350 chronic wounds found that the sensitivity of clinical signs to detect high bacterial load was significantly lower in patients with darker skin tones (2.9%) compared to those with medium (24.3%) and lighter skin tones (14%). This highlights the critical need for objective assessment tools, irrespective of skin pigmentation. The Bio-Z? Smart Bandage addresses these challenges by offering a standardized visual reference that is easily interpretable across all skin tones. Its bold, high-contrast color change facilitates early detection of elevated bacterial colonization, prompting timely clinical evaluation and intervention. By integrating seamlessly into existing wound care workflows and compatible with many dressings, Bio-Z? provides continuous, passive monitoring without additional equipment, empowering clinicians and caregivers to make informed decisions and potentially improving patient outcomes. • ParaNano Secures $500K Grant from Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST) to Advance Bio-Z? Smart Bandage Innovation. ? We are thrilled to share that ParaNano has been awarded a $500,000 grant from the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST). Being selected as one of only 16 recipients of this prestigious award is a tremendous honor. ? Our winning project, “Pilot Manufacturing Process Validation for the Bio-Z? Smart Bandage,” focuses on establishing a robust manufacturing infrastructure and finishing our FDA pathway. This initiative not only represents a critical milestone for our company but also brings significant benefits to the state of Oklahoma, including job creation and contributing to the growth of its life sciences sector. ? ParaNano is the first startup company spun out of the University of Central Oklahoma and has received continuing support. “As Oklahoma’s only metropolitan university, the University of Central Oklahoma is uniquely positioned to collaborate with businesses like ParaNano, driving innovation that moves our community forward. The partnership with ParaNano is particularly special because it is our own alumni working with our faculty to create solutions that better the lives of others. We’re excited that OCAST has recognized the importance of ParaNano’s work, and we look forward to their continued growth and success,” said UCO President Todd G. Lamb. ? Chronic wounds pose a major challenge in healthcare, with infections often leading to severe complications and delayed recovery. Current monitoring methods are largely reactive, detecting issues only after infections have advanced. This highlights the urgent need for proactive solutions to improve patient outcomes. ? The Bio-Z? Smart Bandage is designed to address this need through continuous, non-invasive monitoring of chronic wounds. Its innovative technology visually indicates infection through a color change, empowering clinicians with timely insights to intervene early and reduce wound-related complications. ? We are excited to continue driving innovation in healthcare and are deeply grateful to the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST) and our partners for supporting this transformative work. #OCAST, #UCO
