3D printed shoes are not innovative . . . . Not unless they’re mixed with a design methodology that suits the tool. Why 3D print a shoe that could be easily molded or created in traditional means? Sure, maybe quick results, cheaper up-front costs, but that’s not enough for us. Parametriks shoes can only be 3D printed because it’s impossible to make by classic ways. Midweek Musings | #1 So... who is a Computational Designer? A small reflection... For me, computational design is a broad term that accomodates a lot of categories. When someone introduces him/herself as Computational Designer, I would expect a level of added skills that will add value to their core field of work. Each of the below slides can be expanded into further topics, but this general reflection might differ with time. Computational Designer for me is someone who is not bound by the tools' limitations ! No more "I cannot do this solution because the tool "X" don't have this command/function". What do you think?
