Čoarvemátta Cultural and Educational Hub, designed by Snøhetta, is a powerful homage to traditional Sámi culture and architecture. Nestled within Norway’s Finnmarksvidda plateau, the building’s design harmonizes with its natural surroundings, using organic forms and materials like wood, stone, and metal. Its layout is inspired by the branching structure of a reindeer antler, a nod to the Sámi heritage, with three distinct wings dedicated to the Sami National Theatre Beaivváš, workshops, and educational spaces. The building’s sloping roofs and soft, curved lines seamlessly integrate with the landscape, while its interior spaces are characterized by warm, earthy tones that evoke the traditional Sámi color palette. The Four Car Parks in Muharraq, Bahrain, is part of the Pearl Path Project and spans 45,000 m². Designed by Christian Kerez, the project integrates car parking with public spaces for events and markets. The structures feature slabs that bend and merge, creating dynamic spaces that change as vehicles and pedestrians move through them. 🚘 The exposed structural system uses slabs and columns to withstand horizontal forces, with lightweight circular stairs adapting to varying floor heights. The design’s complexity is achieved through 75,000 scripted sections, combining traditional construction methods with advanced computational techniques to create a unique and versatile urban space. 🏗️Nieuw Bergen, designed by MVRDV, is a 29,000 m² development in Eindhoven’s De Bergen neighborhood. It includes seven buildings and offers 237 homes, commercial spaces, urban farming, and underground parking. The design uses 45-degree sloping roofs to optimize sunlight and accommodate solar panels and green roofs. Historic structures are integrated with new constructions, maintaining the neighborhood’s character. 🌈The buildings, named after rainbow colors, include Indigo, the tallest, and Orange, which provides 48 social housing units.
