Established in 2008 by the?National Organization for Rare Disorders, Rare Disease Day has become an important date for raising awareness about these conditions. The annual observance brings attention to the more than 10,000 rare diseases affecting over 300 million people worldwide. In the United States, rare diseases, defined as conditions affecting fewer than 200,000 people, impact approximately 25-30 million Americans, with more than half of those affected being children. The illumination of 100 Westminster Street, an iconic building that helps define Providence’s skyline, reflects Paolino Properties’ commitment to meaningful global initiatives while creating a visual symbol of solidarity with the rare disease community worldwide. Paolino Properties was proud to support the Splendor of Florence (produced by Joyce Acciaioli-Rudge) earlier this month. Thousands of residents and visitors gathered downtown for photography exhibits, film screenings, and workshops. Our portfolio came alive - from the photography preview at our flagship building, 100 Westminster Street, to Italian culinary events at Bellini Restaurants and Hope & Main Downtown Makers Marketplace, to hosting the Italian delegation at The Beatrice Hotel, and the pop-up Tuscan Osteria at Tilden & Thurber. Students, families, and youth engaged through field trips, boat tours, and green career panels, and over 500 community?members attended The Splendor of Italian Opera featuring singers from Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra and Music School at Grace Church.
