Dr. Richard Faris, PANTHERx Rare’s Chief Strategy & Growth Officer, authored a guest post today for Drug Channels Institute, an HMP Global Company about the critical role specialty pharmacies (SP) play in supporting those living with rare and orphan diseases. The complexities surrounding these patients and therapies demand that biopharma manufacturers invest significantly in their commercialization strategies, particularly in selecting the right SP partner. This important decision can influence patient access to therapy, treatment outcomes, and ultimately, a product’s financial performance. Dr. Faris also discusses a systematic framework for manufacturers to help identify, assess, and select a specialty pharmacy; the role of a patient services HUB in rare diseases; and the experience of PANTHERx teams in successfully launching nearly four dozen rare-disease therapies.
