Ensuring a future for wild cats and the vast landscapes on which they depend.

关于我们

Founded in 2006, Panthera is devoted to the conservation of the world’s 40 species of wild cats and the vast ecosystems they inhabit. Our team of biologists, data scientists, law enforcement experts and wild cat advocates studies and protects the seven species of big cats: cheetahs, jaguars, leopards, lions, pumas, snow leopards and tigers. Panthera also creates targeted conservation strategies for the world’s most threatened and overlooked small cats. With our supporters around the world, we inform the public about the plight of wild cats, work closely with communities living alongside these iconic species, protect wild cats and their prey from poaching, fight the illegal wildlife trade and safeguard the precious landscapes wild cats need to survive. If you love wild cats, then you’re in our pride. Welcome to the movement to protect these captivating creatures and secure them for future generations. Visit panthera.org. "Conservation is not just about protecting nature but also about planning, coordinating and managing the people, financial resources and processes that enable the organization to successfully achieve its goals.” –Christine Sandra Ngoubangoye, Coordinator, Plateaux Batéké National Park Support Project Meet Christine Sandra Ngoubangoye, defender of wild felines and their landscapes in Gabon. As Coordinator of the Plateaux Batéké National Park Support Project, Sandra is responsible for liaising between Panthera and the National Parks Agency (ANPN) via the park managers including the Conservator, Park Director and his Deputies on one hand, and provincial and departmental authorities, local communities and donors on the other. This involves ensuring funding is available for the park team to implement activities and monitoring their progress. In her role, Sandra reports on technical and financial progress to Panthera team members and donors and also develops new initiatives and assesses project needs in collaboration with the ANPN team. She also reports on the results of activities to local authorities and advocates for the needs of local communities living on the periphery of the park. Advanced project management training in technical, administrative and financial management skills and 14-years-experience working in the Plateaux Batéké region have helped Sandra better understand the unique environment in which she works: a landscape situated in a transition zone between the Zambian savannah and the Congolese rainforest, where emblematic species coexist including lions, leopards, buffalo, elephants, gorillas, chimpanzees and more. Work essential: Sandra is never far from her computer, diary-notebook and telephone to plan her days and prioritize her tasks. Sandra is proof that conservation extends far beyond the field. It takes planning, coordination and management. This International Women's Day, we celebrate her and all the pioneering women who are shaping the future of our planet.

“Being a conservationist is having a multifaceted life, in which you apply different strategies every day to prevent the extinction of species while promoting coexistence between humans and big cats.” –Priscila Peralta-Aguilar, Wildlife Veterinarian Meet Priscila Peralta-Aguilar, a wildlife veterinarian passionate about conserving wild cats and their landscapes. As the Wildlife Health & Human-Wildlife Coexistence Coordinator for the Plateaux Batéké National Park (PBNP) in Gabon, she works closely with local communities and authorities to raise awareness about the importance of restoring lions in this unique ecosystem. Originally from the Peruvian Amazon, Priscila is preparing for the return of lions to Gabon. She will be responsible for the restoration and health monitoring of the first generation of lions that will bring the species back to the country. Her work in the Plateaux Batéké region is also helping to revitalize the Téké culture, which traditionally viewed lions as totem animals. She is building confidence among villagers, reassuring them that lions will not be a threat and that harmonious coexistence with wildlife is possible. Priscila recently attended the Wildlife Capture School in Zimbabwe to further develop her skills in the safe and correct techniques of darting and immobilizing African wildlife, specifically lions. This training is essential to safeguard the health and welfare of wildlife, while promoting the crucial role of veterinarians in biodiversity conservation. Field essentials: If you visit PBNP, you’ll find Priscila in the field with her binoculars, GPS, dart gun and stethoscope — always ready to immobilize lions if necessary. Priscila showcases how wild cat conservation requires a combination of technical expertise, community commitment, and perseverance. This International Women’s Day, we celebrate her and all the brilliant women paving the way for a brighter future.

"Conservation is not a sprint — it’s a marathon that demands unwavering commitment. Each step, no matter how small, is a building block for a future where wildlife and local communities flourish together." –Abeer Al Saud, Director General of Panthera Arabia Meet Abeer Al Saud, Director General of Panthera Arabia, a passionate leader in wildlife conservation and environmental peace building. Abeer is leading efforts to integrate Arabian, snow and Persian leopards by creating a trilateral knowledge exchange network for experts in the region. This collaboration fosters a deeper understanding of these iconic species and promotes coexistence between people and wildlife, helping to build peace through shared conservation goals. Abeer’s work emphasizes that conservation goes beyond protecting nature — it’s about creating harmony between human communities and the ecosystems they depend on. One of her dream projects is the establishment of the first organization dedicated to sand cat conservation and research. The sand cat, which thrives in extreme desert environments, plays a crucial role in the ecological balance of the Empty Quarter, the world’s largest sand desert in Saudi Arabia. However, this resilient species remains under-studied and overlooked. Abeer is determined to raise awareness and inspire action to protect the sand cat and its habitat. Abeer’s long term vision extends beyond wildlife conservation. After her career in the field, she dreams of starting and managing an art gallery dedicated to preserving endangered species, cultural values and traditions. She believes that art has a unique power to promote environmental peace-building by connecting people emotionally to the natural world and encouraging them to take action. Field essential: Abeer’s essential tools in the field include her infrared camera, which allows her to reveal hidden details in nature, and Mabroom dates from AlUla, which provide the energy needed for long field days. Abeer’s work proves that conservation isn’t just about protecting nature — it’s about resilience, knowledge, and creating a sustainable future where wildlife and human communities coexist in peace. This International Women’s Day, we celebrate Abeer and all the trailblazing women shaping the future of our planet.
